Alcoholism PSA

In my portion, I showed how alcoholism relates to students graduating high school going into college next year. Every year in the U.S., around 5,000 people under the age of 21 die from alcohol abuse. Around 80,000 deaths are related to alcohol abuse every year making it the 3rd highest cause of death in the U.S.The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism state that around 2 out of 3 college students participate in binge drinking their freshman year. This binge drinking can lead to huge amounts of side effects including physical including change in mood and behavior in the brain, Steatosis with fat building up in the liver, also weaken your immune system which leads to over 2000 deaths involving alcohol. Alcohol may also affect babies because the consumption of alcohol from a pregnant mother can result in premature birth. I helped set up the camera for the video and draw out the scenes in on the whiteboard. I would have put in more time into research to get more facts if I were to do this project again. I have many family members who have been affected by alcoholism, and it does not only affect their body physically, alcoholism is an addiction that affects the people that are in your life emotionally too.
