Alexis Ngo - Capstone

“Philaculture” was a social media project I created to try and depict the culture that Philadelphia has through pictures. I wanted to represent all of Philadelphia and depict things other than the tourist attractions Philadelphia has to offer. Philadelphia is known for its Philly cheesesteaks, liberty bell, and a wide variety of arts from the visual arts to the musical arts. While working on this project, I would spend every Wednesday walking around different areas of Philadelphia taking pictures of all of the different communities and things that Philadelphia has to offer other that the usual tourist attractions. When I first started this project I had so many ideas of what I wanted to do and how I wanted it to look and it made me feel a little bit lost because of the amount of idea spinning in my head. However, when I really started to take pictures and look around my community I found myself in awe at the amount of character that Philadelphia has. From storefronts that share political views in new and creative ways to the love and passionate personalities people in Philadelphia have.
