Art
I have created this work because I wanted to create a african Piece with colors I never seen those art pieces done with. I was hoping to create a defined painting of an african woman. I what to achieve a strong look with the three colors I used. I think that my work communicates strength, elegancy and struggle. I think I achieved my outline, but I don't think i achieve the sharpness and definisce that I wanted my painting to have. My current work relates to my previous work because I wanted it to be an african portrait. I usually paint african related pieces.
I think that me and the artist Wang Yuping has more of a connection than a lot of other artist. We both drew pictures of people that was on the realistic side. I believe Wang Yuping has more definition in his work and it's way more realistic but I feel like we connected on the idea levels.
The first thing that I did was sketch out my person that I was going to paint. Then I started to paint my person. I started to do dots but I figured that I was not going to finished. Therefore, I just finished my piece with just paint strokes no dots. Include links if applicable. I seen this painting of a black woman on south street. She was filled with color. I thoughts about that picture and I knew that I could only use three colors for the project. Therefor I made it my own. At the time I did not think to take a picture of the painting but I wish I did. This work I have created shows the hardship, strength and dedication that a black woman has. I believe that the painting reflects on my community in a positive way.My work can influence young artist to step out of their boundaries and try new things. Also my work can influence young black girls to be strong. With my artwork I have created it's important to use a stroking technique so that If you want the brush lines to be defined or soft. It matters to use a specific technique so portray your image.
For this project I tried to do pointillism but I did not complete that task. I learned that pointillism is very time consuming and you need specific paint brushes for the sizes you want your dots to come out in.
