Be Conscious, Think Before you Post!

A 20 year old girl name Erika Escalante, who lives in Arizona was fired from her internship after posting a racist tweet that quickly went viral. She posted photos on Twitter of her and a friend in a cotton field. She wrote this on the caption “Our inner n----- came out today." using the slang word for Negro. This is offensive to the black community. She posted a picture that shows her friend and her picking cotton and smiling. There is nothing wrong with that. What was wrong was what she said. She made fun of this by relating it to the Black slaves. The slaves worked hours in the cotton fields and were brutally treated. Many people were offended on the media. Erika had lack of control. She wasn't in control of the things she posted. She wasn't hurt by this she thought is was funny so she posted it.  Immediacy is how fast people saw and how they responded to it. The photos spread on the media.  Permanency was how she tried to delete the tweet. But people already shared it and save it. She was fired from her job, many people talked bad about her, called her a racist. It will be hard for her to get another job. She said she was sorry and it was a mistake. My advice to Erika is for her to be aware before posting. She should know that anything that is mocking or not true about someone shouldn't be on the internet.
