Evolution of the Nervous System
I've learned many things about the nervous system, and other systems in the body, throughout the course of conducting our research. To begin, it was interesting to start by dissecting and comparing the earthworm and human. This allowed me to understand organisms in a new light, and have more respect for them as I was researching. I found many interesting things throughout the completion of the project. I learned that humans have a more developed cerebral cortex, which is one of the most distinct differences between humans and monkeys. The cerebral cortex is the part of the brain that is in control of rational thinking and the ability to make complex and educated decisions. Additionally, I learned that an earthworm has a surprising complex nervous system. Although it's made of few parts, it is intertwined all throughout its body, intersecting and travelling all over.
