One part of your zine that stands out for me is where Elijah’s informational article comes in. I think this is really shocking because… I am going to see Woman King on Sunday and to know that the movie is based on Africans who fought to keep slavery of other Africans going. The movie is supposed to be inspiring for the black community when it is in fact covering up the truth of what happened so many years ago. Another part that I love is where My’shae’s poem “In History” comes in> This stood out for me because…the rhyme scheme in it kept it engaging and gave it a good rhythm. It also had a very good message to the depictions of her ancestors which was very relatable. Your zine, specifically My’shae’s poem “In History”, reminds me of something that I made once. One time… I wrote a poem about how my ancestors fought so hard for us to be free. This reminds me of my poem because they both have the message of how we have to honor our ancestors and all that they have accomplished. Thanks for your zine. I look forward to seeing what you make next, because… this has really opened my eyes to how things that seem innocent can have deeper and darker roots. Your zine was very beautiful and informative.

Dear History Unglorified, I am amazed by your zine because in my opinion it targets the many issues that people face whenever it comes to learning the actual truth about something. I believe that depending on the topic unless it comes from a direct source then we can't be all that sure of how true it is. I say that because someone might feel like they have the right Io change a story up just because they don't like how something occurred. One sentence you wrote that stands out to me is when it says "If you tell my story make sure you tell the truth, The truth they tend to hide." I like this because I feel like this is how a big portion of our history is told. I think that depending on what exactly is being taught depends on how people are going to twist their words about it. The only person who can truly tell your story is YOU and if someone else feels as though they could accurately do so then they need to include every last detail that way the truth is what's getting out instead of some tampered story. Another sentence that I enjoyed reading was when it says "History is written by the victors." This stood out for me because it's the sad reality about the world we live in. I actually agree with you on that because I feel as though depending on how someone feels about an event will depend on how they tell it. For example of someone gets in a fight, loses and ends up on the ground. They may alter this story and say they tripped just because they didn't like the fact they they ended up on the ground. Have you seen this article https://www.history.com/topics/great-depression/scottsboro-boys. I think you would like this because because the events of the Scottsboro boys is a well known event on how a group of young Black men were falsely accused of something they did not do. Thank you for your writing, I look forward to seeing what you write next because I loved the effort and detail out into your poems. Plus I like the way that this topic which I enjoy was throughly explained.

Dear Rashad, Sage, My’zhae, Elijah I am impressed by your zine, “History Unglorified,” because it highlights an important and often overlooked topic of history classes teaching inaccurate information or having a closed-eye view on history.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “ I was told that Christopher Columbus was celebrated for discovering America.” I think this is relatable because I too was told that Cjristopher Columbus discovered America and held this idea as the truth for a long time. Once finding out the truth I felt betrayed by my educators for feeding this false narrative and I gained the mentality that I need to be critical of things I am taught.
Another sentence that I liked was: ““I think people in power write history textbooks to make sure real history is hidden”” This stood out for me because it sounds like a real possibility and is most likely why people in power write textbooks and distribute them strategically. Systematically people are trying to prevent real history and the truth from coming out so they can control current day opinions. I do absolutely agree with you that when teaching history you must tell the whole truth and cover all types of people. One reason I say this is because everyone deserves to feel included in the history they are taught in some form. Another reason I agree with you is because you can enjoy connect history to the present in a more accurate way when you receive the full truth. Have you seen this book? https://www.amazon.com/Claudette-Colvin-Twice-Toward-Justice/dp/0312661053/ref=asc_df_0312661053/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312151238048&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10744816575616686053&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007309&hvtargid=pla-553270770147&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=61316181079&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=312151238048&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10744816575616686053&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9007309&hvtargid=pla-553270770147 I thought you might be interested in this because of the topic of your zine is uncovering the truth of history and it talks about Claudette Colvin who was actually the first women to refuse to get up from the bus for a white man. Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because this topic speaks volumes and the execution of the topic in the zine was done very well. I think you would do well on spreading an important message of a different topic if you chose to do so.

Dear Sage, Rashad, Elijah and Myzhae I am astonished by your poem “In History” because it delivered a message that should be displayed throughout all history. One of the main lines that caught my eye was, "If you paint a hero - Make sure you paint them all -And not a white man -Who wouldn't dare catch me if I fall". This was a very strong stanza and I believe that as we look back in history the proper history is black people of power being the biggest heroes. A part that I admired in your artwork, "End White History" is the statement piece that says, "Girls just wanna have fun-damental human rights. This stood out for me because the current events going on in our nation with Roe V Wade this supplies a statement that I personally agree with. Thanks for making such a creative poem and I look forward to seeing your next piece of work

Dear Rashad :

I am moved by your zine, "Glorification of History,” because I feel like the topic is very important and not talked about enough. The glorification/sugar coating of history is not something that should be done.

One part of your zine that stands out for me is where the design aspect of your work. I think this is important because having a good design is one of the most important parts of a good zine.

Another part that I observed is where your entire message is shared throughout your entire zine. This stood out for me because each page is clear and concise with it's meaning. while also including the recent airing of the movie Woman King.

Your zine reminds me of something that I made once. One time I also had to work on a zine for an english project. I had to make multiple pages with a lot of creative aspects and thought put into it.I put a lot of effort into it and I'm proud of what I did.

Thanks for your zine. I look forward to seeing what you make next, because you seem to be really good at making something that is engaging and creative. I liked the layout and the over all look and theme of the zine.
