Overview of Quarter 1 Project

The project type for the first quarter project was a website. The vision of this project was to show basic information about my life. This included personal things about me, projects I have completed in or out of school, and a resume that outlined anything I didn’t explain in previous website pages. The goal was to essentially give a portfolio of myself to the class so that they could learn a bit about my lifestyle and what I have accomplished. Some things about me are that I am involved in rowing, Bible Quiz, and Royal Rangers, a program I am involved with at my church. I do believe the project was successful because although it doesn’t tell everything about me, I did do a good job in highlighting some of the important things about me.

Overview of Quarter 2 Project

The project type for the second quarter was Computer Science. I had to code a specific program and do a narrative video while completing the final program. The goal of the project was to show me how to use certain functions and commands within the Karel program. This taught me a bit more about coding and gave me an understanding of how people program. I do believe the project was successful because I learned how to code and make a program do what I want it to do. It was also successful because I can use this skill outside of class if I want to make a game or build more complex things like computers or other technology.

Overview of Quarter 3 Project

The project type for the third and last project that I chose was the Image Editing Project. The vision of this project was to show that there are angels and demons in life. The person in the middle of the image represents all of humanity, and the angels represent all things good, and the demons, all things bad. Both the angels and the demons should motivate you. You should want to get as far from the demons as possible, and closer to the angels. I do believe the project was successful because the image shows my vision and fulfills my goals. I realized as I was doing the project that my demons were too dark. So, I changed the opacity to make them more transparent to look more ghostly. I also thought I was successful in making the angels look more a part of the image instead of add-ons.

Written Reflection of the Revised Project

For this image, all I did was blend in the lighting of the person running with the background. Previously, I had made another layer of the person, and it didn’t flow with the background. Another thing I did was adjust the brightness of the background so that the demons would blend in better as well. For the angels, I moved them around slightly and reoriented them so that they were easier to look at as part of the image as a whole. I also made the decision to make the angels slightly darker so that they wouldn’t stand out as much and would be a part of the message of the image.

A high point during this year when it comes to my learning was the Computer Science Project, and me learning how to code. The reason for this is because I had never coded before, and I really enjoyed doing it.

An area of growth for me was definitely working on the Image Editing Project. The reason for this is because although I had a goal in mind, and knew in general how to get there, I had to go through a lot of trial and error to get there. Shoutout to Ms. Hertz for helping me through my questions.

I could use coding to create a game or a program in college or beyond. I could also use image editing beyond high school if I wanted to merge two or more images together or make an image look prettier for advertisement.

An idea for next could be something built with legos. I don’t know what that object would be, but this is just an idea that Ms. Hertz could think through further.
