Dear Luvly, I am moved by your poem, "A Mother's Duty," because of the message it brings forth. The significance of the message hit close to home being someone who has heard these same things. One sentence that stood out for me is: "If she doesn't have a son in the next five seconds we can dispose of her." I think this is interesting because of the effect this thinking has on society today. Many women have to still deal with this in the midst of the progressive world we live in today. Another sentence I noticed was: "Why do I feel the need to satisfy the males obsession?" I do thoroughly agree with you that we have a problem with using women to produce the best sons. One reason I say this is because I watch it happen first hand in my family and close friends' families. Another reason I agree with you is how this ideology is portrayed in the media and pushed in movies like you stated in your poem. Thank you for writing. I look forward to what you right next because of the emotion you included and how much I can relate to your writing.
I love the topic you chose. Planned parenthood is an ongoing thing that is trying to be taken away from us. I am happy that you are shedding some light on this issue.
Dear <Luvly Johnson>:
I am pleased by your zine, “Planned Parenthood.,” because I can really tell just how much effort you put into your zine and how much you researched for this project.
One sentence you wrote that stands out for me is: “Why do I feel the need to satisfy the male's obsession?” I think this is powerful because… I can relate to this question alot, and I feel like a lot of women can relate to this line as well.
Another sentence that I enjoyed was: “Not knowing of the nauseating feeling of not being good enough to be a wife when they can't satisfy that dying need of a child.” This stood out for me because…
Thanks for your writing. I look forward to seeing what you write next because I enjoyed reading about your thoughts and opinions about this topic, and think that it's important that everyone's voice is heard.
