Senior Capstone description

My senior capstone was art and history related. For my capstone I explored my native culture and their forms or artistic expression. In doing so I was able to create a traditional bead work crown usually worn at a Pow wow on the reservation. In doing so I was able to use my own creative expression and with the help of my grandmother create my own piece of art. The purpose of this project was to learn and connect with my roots and also be able to expand as an artist to further my tool kit and knowledge on things that I could possibly teach my children. this experience has taught me a lot of patience and built a lot more respect for my culture and my family members who practice it. In return I will be allowing the SLA community to keep my crown for display as a representation of growth, culture, and diversity the many things that SLA embraces.
