Dear Jade,

I am very intrigued by your zine, "Teenage Mental Health". I am intrigued because this is not a topic that gets discussed. I like when you said, "Teenagers aren’t given the proper attention when showing signs of mental health issues". You were absolutely right about this. I've heard too many people say "you're so young, what do you have to be depressed about" or "you're not going through anything that serious" it's like people just dust the problem off their shoulders and shrug it off. Another part that I saw was you saying "Young adults are among the most at risk of major mental illness but are among the least likely to get mental health care". I do believe that there aren't enough resources available and I am glad you brought it up. Thanks for your poem. I really look forward to seeing your next one because this one really touched me.

Dear Jade, I am impressed with your zine because it shows me a totally different side of you. One part of your zine that stood out to me was your contributors page. I think that part of your zine really showed a vulnerable side of you that I have never seen before. I think that part made this zine more relatable to teenagers who also suffer from mental health. Another part that I noticed was your poem, even though there were some typos, it was a really good poem. Just make sure to look over the poem a couple times and maybe even try reading it out loud to find mistakes. This stood out to me because it gave a really good message to others. Thanks for your zine. I look forward to seeing what you make next because I really liked this zine and I think mental health is a serious issue that needs to be talked about more.

Dear Jadyn:

I am motivated by your poem, “Depression Duplex,” because I like how it starts off in a kind of a sorrowful mood, then by the end of the poem it changes to being optimistic and positive. One part of your collage that stands out for me is where the person seems to be trapped in a bottle. I think this is accurate because teens with mental health issues tend to feel like they are trapped inside of a dark space with no way out, and this really illustrates that feeling. Your research page reminds me of something that I have experienced. Sometimes I might be feeling down about something and tell my mom about it, and she would just say that I have nothing to be sad about because I have no significant responsibilities or worries. I can relate this to what you said about teen mental health not being taken seriously or addressed appropriately. Thanks for your poem. I look forward to seeing what you make next, because mental health really is an important issue especially in teens, and it is something that more people need to talk about and take action towards.
