How do students and teachers feel seen in the school? I am doing this project because it is my last year, and it is important that teachers and students feel seen. This will benefit the students by giving clear examples of the value and making them feel seen.

My main Ideas are: How do students and teachers feel seen in the school? And what were the students’ favorite parts of school? I wanted to do this project because students must think they are seen. This will benefit the students by giving clear examples of their value. It will also make the students feel seen.

Here is my process. The first thing I did was find a reference photo that showed everyone in their different ways. I chose a photo from the senior boat trip because it expresses that people were happy and enjoying each other’s company. After picking my reference photo, I started putting in the light and dark shadows to show that I knew where to place the colors. For this painting, I decided to make everything blue and white because blue and white are our school colors, and they represent everyone. The second step in my process was the flat colors. As I said before, I only used blue and white. The most challenging thing was trying to create different shade ranges of blue and white. During this time, I was placing the flat colors. Flat colors are the primary colors that are used, so there is no detail or shading. My project has changed by focusing on one point in my senior year, which showed everyone’s personality, unlike painting multiple different paintings. Through this process, I learned that everyone feels seen in school differently, but when we come together, we create wonderful things.

Lead Poisoning PSA by Christina Miller

I chose to do lead exposure/lead posing because it is a growing issue in Philadelphia. Our video shows some symptoms of lead poisoning and shows the areas where lead exposure is most common. What did you do well and what could you have done differently? I think we could have tried to plan out how we were going to show the symptoms of lead poisoning. What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA? The most meaningful part of making this PSA was to think about how we could inform people and the government.

Christina Miller's Q3 Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Christina Miller in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 2:10 pm

What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth?
The values I see in biodiversity and natural resources help make the world run and keep everything balanced What human actions are associated with altering Earth’s natural systems? The biosphere is associated with human life and actions and human actions that affect nature are deforestation and burning fossil fuels. How can individuals, communities, and or nations live more sustainably? We can all live more sustainably by not using transportation as much to reduce emissions and try to use less electricity.

Reflection Questions: How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability? This project deepened my understanding of how to be sustainably by making it seem like it was real life. What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why? The information we chose to research about the food industry was from the USDA for different years and how the food industry impacted the earth. How did you contribute to your group’s project? Provide specific examples. I help create the business plan and make the physical model layout so we knew where to put everything when we were ready to glue things on. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project? I was proud of how our physical model turned out and how we were able to explain why we chose to create a restaurant using fam grown crops.

How do the earth’s systems affect each other? How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

Earth Systems affect each other by changing always changing, for example, the system hydrosphere affects the geosphere by erosion.

An understanding of environmental science is important for natural disasters because a major change in the environment could make natural disasters worse.

Something I learned about wildfires that is cigarette buds can cause fires along with lighting and dry seasons.
