Idil ALTAY CAPSTONE PROJECT

Turkey Map

For my Capstone I wanted to make something about my country because I’m here for a year, and in this time period I experienced many things like American culture, history, people and etc. Before I return my country, I wanted to introduce mine. Turkey is an important geostrategic power thanks to being located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. I wanted to give some historical facts and some basic information about Turkey. The other thing that I mentioned in my Capstone are Turkish reforms which were made by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. He was our leader after World War I, and he recreated a dead country. One of the most important details for me in this project is my perspective because i compared Turkey and America. I wrote my observations that I have experienced about relationships, daily life and perspectives. This was important for me because this is about my thoughts. I got help from Mr. Elish and we planned to add differences in the educational system between Turkey and America too. This was also important because I was an international student for a year and I learned so much.

Tower Garden Photo Journal

This was a nice experience for me. I learned a lot about Tower Gardening and how can it be helpful for all of us and also the environment. With our plants, it was also nice to see how they grow up- especially lettuce. This lesson taught me a lot about the environment and "Tower Gardening". It is really important because in Turkey we haven't got a chance to grow our own plants in the lesson and see how things will work. It is not only about learning something;
 it is also about "making" something with your group.
