PSA - Food Insecurity

Posted by Lola Mason in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 10:30 pm

My video showcases the problems of food insecurity. Our video has 2 kids and a mom dealing with food insecurity. The mom is trying to devise solutions for the community and her children. The mom starts talking to a politician and trying to find ways on how they can provide more for the community. I chose this topic because we have a food shortage in my community. My mom has to drive more than 3 miles just to get any kind of healthy food for our family to eat.

I think our time management could’ve been better. Something I think we did well was when we recorded we were very focused.

The most meaningful part of the PSA is how it spreads awareness of food insecurity and the different ways we can decrease food insecurity.

What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth? We value trying to save the earth and maintaining it to be healthy.

What human actions are associated with altering Earth’s natural systems? Human actions can alter Earth’s natural system by burning fossil fuels and cutting down trees.

How can individuals, communities, and or nations live more sustainably? People can live more sustainably by reducing unnecessary energy.

How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability? This project deepened my understanding of sustainability by understanding that we need to help the earth and save is from depleting and being unhealthy.

What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why? The information that surprised me the most about healthcare was that the healthcare system affects the hydrosphere. That shocked me because I only thought healthcare affected the atmosphere and the biosphere.

How did you contribute to your group’s project? Provide specific examples. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project? I did most of the checkpoints, and the slides, and I presented the whole project and the 3D model.

How do the earth’s systems affect each other? - I think the earth’s systems affect each other because the climate affects all of life on Earth. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? - We can better understand how to prevent or prepare for natural disasters. My reaction to the project was that I thought it was pretty cool because I am really interested into weather and climate.
