The aspect of this capstone project about which we are most proud is how much we learned from the new students we worked with. With the students, we were able to make new friends and occasionally play games. It’s been a great experience working with all of those kids, but what makes us the happiest is being able to support those students in maintaining their work and grades. Our commitment and diligence paid off in this capstone project, not just in terms of the project’s outcome but also in the friendships and priceless experiences you have made. This project has been extremely beneficial to the community because it has enabled EL students to succeed and receive the assistance they require without feeling excluded or guilty for asking questions. It has also helped us become better tutors in the future, and we are so happy that we have had the opportunity to serve as tutors to other students. Once more, congratulations on your accomplishments!

When I and my friends Justyn Griffin, David Boiling, and Daniel Redd were making plans for our 2023 graduating project (capstone), we wanted to make a difference in our community. We wanted to use our project to teach the youth about finance and how to make money since they aren’t old enough to get a job. We also felt that becoming mentors to our younger peers would be a really meaningful way to make a lasting impact. Our solution was to create a mini-course. Every Wednesday, 9th graders take this course, which gives us the opportunity to teach them the basics of finance and money management. We emphasize the importance of budgeting, saving, and smart investing. We also talk about the potential of starting a small business or using various apps and resources to make money. In addition to the educational aspect, we also want to build a strong bond with our students. We strive to make the course fun and engaging by using creative activities, games, and interactive discussions. We hope to be a source of motivation and encouragement for the students and to provide them with a safe and trusting environment. Overall, our goal for the mini course is to be a positive influence in the lives of our students. We want to give them the tools they need to succeed in their future endeavors. Through our project, we hope to inspire them to create a better community for themselves and their families/friends in the future.
