Gabrielle Culbreath Capstone
For my capstone, I worked with my brothers in creating a lunch and learn series that will help seniors prepare for life beyond high school. We called ourselves "W.E.N Productions" (named after our middle initials). We reached out to various organizations, speakers, and companies to make our series a successful program. I enjoyed hearing feedback from my peers about the presentations (what they liked, didn't like, wanted to see more of, etc.). The presenters absolutely enjoyed working with my peers and informing them about all of the opportunities and skills available to them.
One of the most important things I learned from this experience was how to network. You never know who knows who and what doors could be opened for you. It was nice to establish a good rapport with the presenters and our school community (Each presenter loved talking to us and would gladly come back again :)). Another thing I learned is how to bank and balance finances. Citizens' Bank was our very first presenter and they taught us so much about finances. I was always curious about differences between types of accounts and credit/ debit; my parents tried to explain it to me, but I didn't really understand. It wasn't until the speakers from the bank came to speak to us that I began to understand a bit more about banking.
Completing this project was a good experience and I hope the seniors will take what they learned and apply it to their futures.
