Making It Your Own
In quarter 2, I decided to go above my normal standards. I wanted to be able to explore outside of my comfort zone and what I am usually use to. I wanted to do something that I can relate a lot to and that I knew would be challenging for me. Art is something that your suppose to express yourself through and that definitely conveys my project completely. Makeup is one of the most expressful arts to me. You can really do what you want when doing makeup; you can really make it your own. Although I know I wouldn’t of been able to use actual makeup as a project, I decided to incorporate some things and make it seem like a made up face. In this project I used glitter, different pencils shades (light shading and dark shading) to create actual features, an outliner pen and I even incorporated my own highlighting swatch.
I feel like my work conveys the idea that makeup can be anything you want it to be. Makeup something that is suppose to be one thing and there isn’t any right way how to do it. I definitely achieved that goal through this piece of work because it shows the unique and powerful vibes that makeup gives off. This piece of art is a lot different from the past projects I have worked on because I opened my mind to a lot more this time. Instead of going off of people I already know, I looked into different MUA’s such as Carli Bybel and Jeffree Star to get an inspiration. They triggered my more dramatic looking part of my project.
My piece of art reflects upon my daily life and experiences because I am very into makeup. On the weekends, when I go out or when people ask me, I do makeup. I get very into it and I kind of make it my own thing. It's something that I love to do and it is a way that I express my bubbly personality. Being able to do your eyebrows, eyeliner, eyeshadow and many more makeup world tactics takes a lot of time and patient in which I incorporated into my project. It includes a lot of thin lines, blending, mixing and perfection all in which I do on a daily basis while doing my makeup! I also like trying new things so I decided to put a little shading on the lip color as well.
Overall, my project conveys a personal interest of mine that I don’t generally put out there. It is something that I have loved doing ever since I was a little girl and something that I have perfecting over the years. I like the fact that you can incorporate anything into art and I feel like makeup is one of the most beautiful kinds of arts out there.
