Multitasking & Cell Phone Use Addiction Project

The goal of this project was to be more conscious of your own phone use as it relates to research around learning, brain function and addiction.

What I found is that a majority of the 9th grade can be classified as addicted to their phone. When you look at the data you see people below the average, but also people way above the average. As in 30-40 checks per day above the average. Based off this finding I now believe it would be a good thing if everyone around the average of 71 checks per day started using their phone a little less.

The next step for those addicted to their phone, is to try and break or lessen their addiction. There are several things you can do to cut back on phone use.
Such as:
  1. Don’t sleep next to your phone
  2. Get an actual alarm clock, instead of using your phone
  3. Monitor your phone use
  4. Try and set a limit to phone use per day
To gather our we used the app 'Checky' so that we could track our cell phone use. After that we filled out a google form with our own data, which was then compiled into a google spreadsheet.
