My Art Project

Artist Statement Throughout the image I created I used cubism, inspired by Pablo Picasso who was one of the first artist to create an art piece using the cubist technique. I created what I thought to be art piece of a young child who has the whole world in front of her, she looks similar to a young male but is entirely all lady. This artwork reflects on how I have seen a young girl who was actually quite impressive and inspirational to me and several other students. She was always viewed as a tomboy and as someone who was a boy like features even though she was a beautiful young lady underneath all of those overgrown clothes and underneath her shortcut haircut. As I was creating this image I was imagining someone who has been through a struggle but understands that there is so much more to world than her past. I used cubism because this was a unique way of creating a picture with meaning, cubism is a form of art that not many people understand but some of the greatest artists have created wonderful and quite successful pieces of art.
