Human Anatomy Benchmark

I chose pharmaceutical drug overdose or my project because I felt like drug overdose is actually very important but it is a problem that is overlooked by many.     I did not know the statistical data such as how many people overdose from these drugs each year so I wanted to know more about the issue on pharmaceutical drug overdose, who was out there trying to put an end to these overdoses, and why these overdose were happening at such a constant rate. I also wanted to know if this was a problem that more related to minors or if even adults were significantly affected by overdosing on these prescribed drugs.
I truly contributed to the group by basically doing the entire project. I worked very hard on the research part of the benchmark, I constructed a way to include important details that would make our Benchmark even more informative, and I put the video together in the end. We all did well on interviewing, specifically I took the time to interview the nurse thoroughly but a lot of the content she gave couldn't be included into the video. I believe I did well on finding credible sources and evidence, finding sources who provided information that was factual and less about bias, and by putting together a video that was informative but didn't go too far past the time limit. Though, in the future I would try to get this done a lot sooner we didn't wait until the last minute but didn't put enough effort into getting the job done a lot sooner than the day before the project was due.
The most meaningful part of the project was getting new intel and new perspective on the topic, before I used to think only drugs maintained illegally throughout the streets were the issues but now I know even over the counter drugs when used improperly can be quite harmful to the public's health.

After gaining this knowledge it makes me want to do something about it as if it slowly has awoken the activist inside of me, though I am no superman and cannot save everyone, this kind of topic makes me want to learn more about the importances of pharmaceutical opioid overdose, and spread the word for helping prevention of this issue.
Topic of Video:
The video created was on the overdose on pharmaceutical drugs and how it is affecting us. We explained the different ways drug overdosing is affected the community, the statistics on opioid overdose, and what solutions we have as for what can be done to help prevent drug overdose

Artist Statement

Throughout the image I created I used cubism, inspired by Pablo Picasso who was one of the first artist to create an art piece using the cubist technique. I created what I thought to be art piece of a young child who has the whole world in front of her, she looks similar to a young male but is entirely all lady. This artwork reflects on how I have seen a young girl who was actually quite impressive and inspirational to me and several other students. She was always viewed as a tomboy and as someone who was a boy like features even though she was a beautiful young lady underneath all of those overgrown clothes and underneath her shortcut haircut. As I was creating this image I was imagining someone who has been through a struggle but understands that there is so much more to world than her past. I used cubism because this was a unique way of creating a picture with meaning, cubism is a form of art that not many people understand but some of the greatest artists have created wonderful and quite successful pieces of art.

Senior Capstone ( Nursing )

Posted by Yinka Hollinger in Senior Capstone · Elish · ILP/TFI/CAP on Friday, May 18, 2018 at 8:45 am

My purpose for this project is to gain experience, become educated about what it means to be a school nurse, and to be able to possibly educate any potential students who want to be registered nurses. After my aunt passed I was ready to spread her love and care around the world to others through spirit and actions. After she passed due to Uterine Cancer, I not only wanted to learn more about the causes of Cancer and how to prevent or regulate them but I also wanted to learn more about all the different diseases the people have and how important it is to be a nurse no matter field. If I can learn how to provide my services and learn the terms and instructions that I need to, these will surely come in handy one day. I want to understand these procedures so that when I am working I am not only learning for myself I am also able to influence the lives of others who will either want to make it out this eventful time or impact the lives of others whom I am working on.

My purpose is not only gain this experience but also explain this experience to others so that they understand also why the role of a nurse is so important, if you cannot understand why the role of a registered nurse is important then you will never understand why a school nurse is significant to academic success rate in a school environment.

For our quarter 3 benchmark, my group researched the biology of the human body, comas and how they affect the human nervous system. Our physical model is a painting which openly shows the functions of the human and how these structures are effected in and out of consciousness.
Throughout this project, I learned about many different brain structures, the nerves that effect the, and how the nervous system works in the human body. One interesting fact that I learned while experimenting is that we as humans have a very complex nervous system and though it seems that the brain on;y interprets and receives that we actually can give information a lot better after understanding it over several times as compared to once or twice.

My Younger Cousin & I

Posted by Yinka Hollinger in Art 2 · Hertz · C1 on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 8:59 am
Why family Matters
Why family Matters
This is a picture of my representation of what stood out to me as I viewed my younger cousin. I guess this was apart of getting older when you can look at your younger siblings and family members and see what their true characteristics and commonalities really are. When I was younger and around my cousin, I did not view him as I do now, I realize how much he reminds me of when I was his age.
I want my artwork to reflect on how family does really matter in the world that we live in and also generations affect us as a  whole. Though I am not that much older myself I do realize how the older generation does have a major effect on the up and rising generation. If we do not inspire and educate the youth then future generations are doomed. I think this is why it matters to me so much showing that in my family my up and coming youth will be well prepared for living their lives and growing into adults. The materials and tools I used in this art piece were simple. I used a pencil for outlining and tracing of my artwork. I used specific colors for the colored pencils to represent how we both had the favorite colors mines being red, his being blue, and us both liking the eagles so I chose to use green.
I’m not much of an artist but over the years of creating artwork, I have developed what we call an “ artist's eye”, where I can view art pieces including my own from a different perspective than most people way see art.
To create my artwork I first took the time to think of what I wanted to create. After this, I took the time to gather the materials I needed in order to create the art piece. Next, I took the time to think I wanted to create, why I wanted to create it, and how I wanted to create it. After this, I viewed other artwork so that not only did I have somewhere to start I looked at real artists who helped inspire me to start my artwork.
I have always been inspired by Pablo Picasso’s art and enjoyed viewing his artwork. I remember doing research on his technique and tone of his artwork which helped inspire this art piece because I remember viewing his art that he created in memory of a long lost friend he had. I learned how technic is very important because it may be what affects how the art is interpreted, it may be the reason why this colorway looks like it was meant to be, compared to a bunch of colors being mashed together. One new technique I learned after this piece of art is the heaviness or how hard I press when I draw because before I thought to press harder and longer meant better and more “3D” in a sense but now I realize a lightly colored piece of art can be just as nice as any other artwork.
When I look at this work the thing I am most proud of is probably the meaning behind the artwork. This makes me proud because it shows that I am making progress and growing as a young man because normally I don’t represent the family that I care about through artwork normally I have to speak on it in person or through visual representation. If I could change one thing about this project I would change the way that I set up the picture so that it was more detailed. I did not want to add too much and end up messing the artwork.
In conclusion, I learned that when you have a passion for something or can truly understand someone it makes creating something in as a representation of them a lot easier even when you aren’t an artist yourself.

Algebra 2 Benchmark

Algebra Benchmark

As I consumed caffeine from these different foods and drinks 13% of the caffeine left my body and 87% or .87 of the caffeine remained. Even with the more caffeine I consumed, 13% of that each hour would leave my body.

Based on the amount of caffeine that was still in my body even when I was sleeping, I would recommend one to stop consuming caffeine earlier in the day rather later because based off the data I collected, you will never have a time when you have 0 mg of caffeine in your body so the more hours your body has to eliminate the caffeine the better it will do for your body. The daily recommended amount of caffeine is between 32-100 mg of caffeine, though lots of the typically eaten or drunk food and drinks contain caffeine of 200 mg and even larger so if you are a person who enjoys coffee as I do then I would recommend keeping any extra consumption of caffeine to a minimum. The highest amount of caffeine I consumed throughout that 48 hour period was actually only about 78 mg of caffeine which for someone who enjoys to drink and eat foods and drinks with caffeine isn’t so bad.

This project was a more difficult benchmark honestly but it was a new thinking process. I think our group as a whole did well on the collaboration part of the project. I think we did well to stay on topic when it was needed and did well to put the project together even through the humps that we had to overcome to get the work done by the due date.

This project helped me with both spanish and English. I enjoyed this project because it allowed me to try a new concept of creating not only a poem but also trying to make sure it made sense in spanish. I also enjoyed this because I got to experience a little bit of the Latino culture and how these poets express their feelings about their lives in this way of art called poetry.

Dia de los Muertos

Posted by Yinka Hollinger in SPANISH 2 - Moran - A on Friday, January 22, 2016 at 1:31 pm
This project was in a way to help us embrace our bonds with our passed loved ones. As we went over this project I know that for myself it brought back many happy and joyful memories of me with my loved ones. This opened my eyes to see that there was more to my grandfather to just mourn over, that there was more celebratory memories also. Helped me to understand the true meaning of a bond.

Infopgraphic On Tv Shows

Posted by Yinka Hollinger in TECH 1 - Hertz - a1 on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 7:41 am
I chose this because Tv is something I believe everyone in my audience could relate to, so this would be a less complex topic to discuss. I also chose this topic because is a part of my everyday life even though I may not watch programs on tv everyday in some way I may still may use my tv. Lastly, I chose this topic because I feel tv and electronics are apart of American culture so I wanted to include this into my project

I chose this image because I feel like this is something my audience can relate to while I explain the moral. I also, picked this image becuase Elvis was somebody who was assumed to be happy since he was wealthy and a celebrity but tthis may have not been true behind close doors. Simply, I picked this image because of the way it caught my eye compared to all other images related to my moral, and because his smile was sort of a sly it wasn't really conveincing that he was happy. Lastly, I chose this because Elvis wasn't such a great man he talent honored but he was disrespectful to blacks who may have pretended to be happy to meet him.
