Natural Disasters- Tsunami
1. How do earth systems affect each other? - The four spheres of the earth are the Atmosphere (air), Biosphere (life), Hydrosphere (water), and Geosphere (land). They are all connected to each other and when one sphere changes it affects the others as well but it can either be a good change or bad change. An example could be the biosphere and atmosphere, the atmosphere helps provide sunlight to the biosphere which then transforms the sunlight to photosynthesis for the plants to grow. The plants then help provide oxygen that is released into the atmosphere. 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? - Getting a better understanding of environmental science gives better insight into how natural disasters happen, this helps know what to be prepared for in case a natural disaster happens. Knowing what different natural disasters do is also a way to learn how to be ready for it. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? - Though we cannot prevent natural disasters we are causing them to happen more often, climate change happens to be a big reason so we can find ways to prevent climate change. Another effort we can make to help us in the future is to have a better alert system for when these natural disasters happen as well as giving our support to those who have been affected by it. My reaction: During my research on Tsunamis I learned a lot more about them and what effect they have. Tsunamis can harm both the atmosphere and hydrosphere because of all the debris and trash it takes which can pollute the air and ocean. They are also caused by earthquakes which occur first. Having a better understanding of this natural disaster helped me know what to do in those situations if it ever happens.
