Reproductive Health PSA
In summary, our PSA is about reproductive health, what is being researched, how women are affected and how it is treated in politics. The cause of these issues surround the political views, religious views and how clinics and research are funded. Under healthcare, some things are treated but many issues that affect women more are not covered by insurance or Medicare. Politicians and people are pushing for restrictions on abortions and this affects the number of clinics in a state. Those clinics are very important to the surrounding area because they offer screenings for cervical and breast cancer. They help expecting mothers and offer contraceptives to those who want them. The defunding of those clinics cause a lot more damage to a community because of a person's view of what a woman can do with her body.
I helped with creating the interview questions and arranging the interview with Dr. Driscoll. I also helped with the recording and I edited the video and audio together. I think it came out well, except I would have picked a quieter place to record. This is an important issue because it affects me and the access I have to be healthy. I believe that women should have options planned parenthood offers. The most important part of this project was listening to someone in a professional field talk about the concerns about how the issue is being treated. How different states have different laws that make it extremely hard or impossible for them to make their own choices about their body.
