Think Before You post: Story of Amanda Todd

Amanda was on a meeting new people webcam website, and she was on there she met this guy. This guy convinced Amanda to pull her chest out on the webcam, and i'm guess he screenshotted it. The guy  kept making profiles on facebook that technically kept showing her chest and having everybody see it when every time she switched to a new school he would go under cover and make a new profile and add her as a friend. Then she put a video on youtube talking saying how she was getting bullied and blackmailed.  A little after a month after posting the video, Amanda hung herself in her home.

  • Immediacy- the way that immediacy plays into this  story is she just showed her chest to the guy that she didn’t know. Amanda knows she shouldn't had did it, but she did it anyways impulsively. Amanda  just did it because he was pressuring her to do, so she just hurried and did it.

  • Permanence- the way that this story shows permanence is when she posted the video which is was 4 years ago, and even though she died it’s still up there. That shows how if you put something on the internet it’s going to be permanent.

  • Lack Of Control- When Amanda showed the man her chest he probably screenshotted it, and Amanda had no control over where that picture went even though she didn’t know it was up there. Amanda still had no control over it when she died  and that's just a perfect example of lack of control she had no control over who had the picture or even where that picture went.

The effects of this situation with Amanda is that she showed her chest to a stranger on a webcam, and ended up getting bullied for showing her chest. My advice would just be Amanda should've never gotten on that website if she never would've got on the website with strangers then none of this would've never happened. My point is think before you just do something impulsively.
