Tobacco PSA
For our benchmark this quarter, we had to make a PSA about a public health issue. A public health can be affected by a variety of factors ranging from the environment you're in to your genetics and health services. For example, the tobacco industry is one of the largest contributors to the economy in terms of product sales. However, their product negatively impacts the health of individuals productivity levels and contributing to medical costs. This causes the government to counter their impacts.There are several careers related to public health, this includes doctors, research, education, and etc.
In the video, we talked about what tobacco is and how it affects your body; as well as why it is a public health concern and what we can do to decreases it's damage. I chose this topic because there are several people I know who are chronic smokers and I thought that this is something that could help them better understand what they were doing to their bodies and to those around them. I also wanted to provide a continuation from our previous project, since we didn't really touch upon the topic of nicotine addiction.
During this group project, my main role was to do the research for the information and to write the script for the video (not the skit). I think something we did well was being though with our information. However, we couldn't really fit it into a 7 minute video, which is something I think we could have improved on.
