Artist statement .

I have created a rose as my art work with value , line and texture because I figured what’s better to use other than a flower ? That could be the perfect fit for line texture and value. What I have achieved through doing this artwork is learning how to blend things to give it a different appearance for others to view using charcoal you can also call this appearance in my art work the value of it. To the viewer my artwork communicates that the dark and lighter parts on the petals gives off the view of how a real flower could look which is decent , also the texture on my flower gives off a real life effect to , well at least to me  one of the textures are cross hatching which I think was a cool experience drawing it was something different that I thought was actually nice. This current art work relates to my previous art work because I remember in ninth grade I had to draw my shoe. Which had to do with value line and texture and now that I look back on it I wish I wouldve looked up some more things to do. It would've gave off a better effect such as cross hatching it just gave me something more to evaluate. My art fits in with contemporary art because an artist named Wei liang it was created in 1964 , in his image for value he did the same thing I did that gave off a different effect he did the image very dark and the other places very light only difference is his is symbols and not flowers. My artwork is similar to this I used charcoal.

The process I used to create my artwork was youtube because at first I couldn’t do it, but I followed the out like to create the other part of the flower and within the inside I created my own petals. To make the dark spots on my rose I used charcoal and the light spots I used a pencil and held it different ways to get a different effect. Some ways my artwork can reflect my life is I have had some bad and some good the dark represents the bad and the light represents the good. The techniques that were so important to my work are the form of holding the pencil and pressing down on the charcoal , if you didn’t gold the charcoal the correct way you could mess up and smear it everywhere and if the pencil blended with the charcoal it would look messy. The techniques I used that were and experimented on that was new to help me create my artwork are the charcoal and drawing the texture which was cross hatching. My artwork connects to the real world such as the world we live end because the world is getting very dark and the things that are helpful to the world will soon be taken away because of the dark mean hearts around us , there are only a few people who care left.
