Samantha Green's Capstone.

Posted by Samantha Green in Senior Capstone · Houwen · ILP/TFI/CAP on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 9:01 pm
For my senior capstone I wanted to bring awareness to students about their peers, the types of environments they come from, and how they affect their success. I had trouble trying to come up with something that would make the most sense and be the most impactful for the SLA community and the depth of understanding struggles from a students perspective to a teachers. So for my capstone I worked with Ayanna Russell and we decided to share our stories throughout of four years of high-school about how we survived our dysfunctional families, and how we've came about our success. Throughout us relating our experiences to dysfunctional families, we researched about it and came across things that were experienced first hand or we see everyday. The product of our project is a slide show, with a ted talk of Ayanna and I. We learned that no matter what you have came from, and no matter what you see always encourage, uplift and be the change you want to see in your community. The things that we researched we see everyday, and we realized that some people just need that encouragement or support.

Q4 Benchmark: Public Health and Blindness.

Posted by Samantha Green in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 7:10 pm
The Summary of the content in our video on Public Health And Blindness is to make everyone aware of how they can get further medical advice on their medical history and to inform them on their condition. We chose this project because their are many blind people who aren’t heard, and we want to inform the community about their life’s. I contributed to our group by editing our video, and making sure our project was being completed as our timeline followed. My group did a wonderful job working together. I wouldnt Do anything differently. The most meaningful part of the PSA was learning more about blind people, and not just how we view them, blindness is deeper than it may appear to be.

Throughout the benchmark, my group members were amazed by how the specific parts of the brain reflect on specific emotions. We thought that the brain was just all one big blob that had one part that showed how your emotion was affected, but in fact, we were wrong. Your emotions are shown all over the different parts of the brain. The key learnings throughout the benchmark were the anatomy of the nervous system and how it is affected by our emotions. The hypothalamus plays a role in the activation of the sympathetic nervous system, which is a part of an emotional reaction. This was important in our findings. This was such a fun project that my group members and I had to complete.

The sports Physiology of Lacrosse

Posted by Samantha Green in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 10:19 pm
Throughout our research of sports physiology, we investigated Lacrosse, and how our physical well being is affected by it including the pros and cons of the sport. the activity my group members and I chose to engage our peers in is a demonstration of a Lacrosse warmup that a normal team player would do.

During the course of quarter 4, My group members and I planted plants and observed them for the whole quarter. In this lab we observed the life cycle of the Fast plant, genetics, phenotypes, and characteristics. The procedure of this lab was to take parental seeds and observe each parental type which is homozygous with the phenotypes we will investigate. In order to complete the lab successfully everyone had to have good background knowledge on genetics. The purpose of the procedure was to understand the basics of mendelian genetics, the use of punnett squares, chi-square analysis of data, and the life cycle of diploid organisms useful in genetics studies. We predicted the plant F2 to be the dominant plant to have a baby with the others plants, and it turned out that we were in fact correct. What hindered our plant from surviving was the fact that we didn’t water them as often as we were supposed to. We forgot that we had plants in the lab section of our classroom, and also they hardly got any sunlight to help them grow. A greater indicator that lets you know more about how the organism will look is the process the plant goes through everytime you go to check on it. What I mean when I say this, is the colors that changes and how tall it grows along the way. Genetics and the environment affect the phenotype of an organism because its determined how the plant will grow based off of the environment and the genetic makeup of the seeds from the plant.  The phenotype of the plant is the physical makeup of the plant which is based off of what is around it. What stood out to me during this course is that I found it cool how plants can make babies. I thought that was very decent I didn’t know that they could do such as things. I also enjoyed learning more about the process of planting plants. You don’t just plant a seed and water it all the time. It’s more to it then just that.

Biochemistry Benchmark Ecosystems Response To Change.

Posted by Samantha Green in Biochemistry 2 Honors on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 8:36 pm
Something that stood out to me during the creation of this project is the fact that we all know that the world is overpopulated, but what can we really do to change the world and make things not populated? I believe that you really can't put a limit on population. What if things become underpopulated because that's possible. I think that the world needs people to thrive in my opinion. I'm wondering if we can keep the population the way it is and change other habits? Would that help make the world a better place? We can say that it could, but scientifically would it?

"HANDS" linoleum Cut

Posted by Samantha Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 3:52 pm

I have chose to create a Linoleum cut in press out a hands but i’ve chosen hands specifically because without hands where would we be? But the overall vision for this piece was to show my hands just five fingers but when you flip it upside down you see the other five within my five fingers. What i think this piece of art communicates to the viewers of this is that I think that they could perceive anything but if they were a deep critical thinker like be I would think that they would think where exactly would they be without hands , they basically help you do everything just like your legs. What I feel like I achieved through this creation art was some patience because you had to cut the right way and ona particular angle to get the exact picture that you wanted. This relates to my previous work because it has to do with carving lines and the process of taking your time because it won’t be right the first time so that’s why you try again until you get the work how you want it. My work fits into contemporary art because just like Qiu Deshu’s piece of art when you look at it you could think it’s one thing but when you look closer it’s something different or you can get different ideas from the piece of art just like mine.

The way I created my work was firstly I sketched a draft of what I wanted my drawing to be like in my art book , and once I was done that I took a piece of copying paper and placed that over top of the linoleum cut to copy my sketch the exact way I wanted it. After this process it was pretty light on the linoleum cut so I took a sharpie, traced it I grabbed the cutting tools i heated up the linoleum cut with the iron and started carving but it was a specific one I used first to trace out the whole hand to make it easier and I started carving out my drawing but I had to look at which one I wanted to be the positive and negative and space. Once I finished carving I took some ink and two rollers one for ink directly on the linoleum cut and the other was a dry one used to press on the paper to make the print come out. This was the whole process of the linoleum cut. I had no inspiration on my image I came up with this on my own because everything I looked up online was hard so I thought it be cool to come up with my own thing to draw. This artwork reflects on the world I live in because hands are how you get through your everyday life. This reflects on my own life because without my hands I wouldn’t be able to do anything I love or even type on this computer right now lol. My art work actually can put an impact on the world because it would make people stop taking their hands for granted in certain situations. One technique that i s very important to this work is the carving skill because if you don't carve correctly or miss one important little piece this will show on you art work and it will become annoying because if you want it perfect you will have to keep repeating this cycle. A new technique I learned through this process is  carving , if the linoleum cut is not warm you can even carve it and I never used these cutting tools before. Overall this project was challenging not as easy as it seemed!

Value , Texture and Line Rose

Posted by Samantha Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 12:20 pm

Artist statement .

I have created a rose as my art work with value , line and texture because I figured what’s better to use other than a flower ? That could be the perfect fit for line texture and value. What I have achieved through doing this artwork is learning how to blend things to give it a different appearance for others to view using charcoal you can also call this appearance in my art work the value of it. To the viewer my artwork communicates that the dark and lighter parts on the petals gives off the view of how a real flower could look which is decent , also the texture on my flower gives off a real life effect to , well at least to me  one of the textures are cross hatching which I think was a cool experience drawing it was something different that I thought was actually nice. This current art work relates to my previous art work because I remember in ninth grade I had to draw my shoe. Which had to do with value line and texture and now that I look back on it I wish I wouldve looked up some more things to do. It would've gave off a better effect such as cross hatching it just gave me something more to evaluate. My art fits in with contemporary art because an artist named Wei liang it was created in 1964 , in his image for value he did the same thing I did that gave off a different effect he did the image very dark and the other places very light only difference is his is symbols and not flowers. My artwork is similar to this I used charcoal.

The process I used to create my artwork was youtube because at first I couldn’t do it, but I followed the out like to create the other part of the flower and within the inside I created my own petals. To make the dark spots on my rose I used charcoal and the light spots I used a pencil and held it different ways to get a different effect. Some ways my artwork can reflect my life is I have had some bad and some good the dark represents the bad and the light represents the good. The techniques that were so important to my work are the form of holding the pencil and pressing down on the charcoal , if you didn’t gold the charcoal the correct way you could mess up and smear it everywhere and if the pencil blended with the charcoal it would look messy. The techniques I used that were and experimented on that was new to help me create my artwork are the charcoal and drawing the texture which was cross hatching. My artwork connects to the real world such as the world we live end because the world is getting very dark and the things that are helpful to the world will soon be taken away because of the dark mean hearts around us , there are only a few people who care left.

Color wheel

Posted by Samantha Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Monday, October 31, 2016 at 9:38 am

The work I created was a color wheel , I choose to make mine like a umbrella with a person standing under it in the rain because I thought it was creative and cool I like how the circle was a cool idea to make as an umbrella. This work was created to show the difference between primary , secondary , tertiary and tint colors. To make sure I know the difference and how to mix colors. My Overall vision for this was to Just get a good grade and make sure I have a complete understanding for mixing paints and to know  the difference between all colors and what they change to once you mix them.

What I expect from my audience is that they won't necessarily look at the umbrella portion but they will look at the paints and understand that I only started off with certain colors and had to mix them to get others. I think once they understand what I had to go through to get the other paints they’ll think that it’s really cool and not so much difficult you’ll just have to know what you're doing This current work relates to my previous work because I started off with certain colors that’s all I could use to get my work now with is mixed with multiple colors. My art fits the history of art practice because you had to keep going through trials to get the right color for example starting off I only had blue red and yellow I had to mix a few colors to get green and purple. The inspiration I got from my project came from Mrs.Hertz I really liked hers so I decided to do mine like that I thought it was really creative.

A certain technique to this art that is important is that you may mess up  a few times but you have to keep trying until you mix and get the right color it's all about PATIENCE. The only artist I will ever be influenced by is Mrs. Wonderful Hertz because she gives me all my ideas and I go off of that. A new technique I learned is in making white colors when you add white to the color , it comes out really light and pretty which I like . A technique to this work is important because if you don't know how to mix paints you won't get the job done or so it correctly. This can fit into a series of longer work because once you know how to mix paint when you create something you can do anything and make it art by adding this and that! So in a nutshell I chose to do my color wheel as a umbrella I thought it was creative cute and straightforward to get the job done especially because a umbrella could be cut into to certain parts with different designs that  gave me the choice of putting my colors how ever I wanted as long as they were on there

Electric Art Project

Posted by Samantha Green in PHYSICS 1 - Gray - D on Monday, June 6, 2016 at 2:39 pm

Why I chose to make this sculpture is because my phone means oh so very much to me as others may know. The sculpture I have decided to make is on my phone case. What this piece of art says about me is that I am obsessed with my phone it takes my mind off things and to also ignore people which I love to do without my phone I don't think I would be able to survive. Without this I would be in a lot of problems this keeps me sane and keeps me from overthinking many things.

Art & Six Word Memoir

Posted by Samantha Green in ART 9 - Hertz - e1 on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 1:14 pm

Life is what you make it !

If you choose to live a good life you’ll make good decisions , If you choose to live poorly you’ll make bad decisions life is what you make it everything has a consequence.Life is what you make it because if you do good and make good decisions for your future when you come home you’ll have a nice life and nice future it may not be a lot but its something you worked hard too earn. Life is what you make it because if you work hard for what you want in life you'll be able to have anything you want.If you make poor decisions for your lifestyle you won’t have a home that looks like below you may not have anything. The details that are in my room connect to my 6 word memoir because I feel as though this is a normal home in which a person isn't home all the time because they are to busy working hard for what they want so they have what they need but just don't really care as long as they have somewhere to stay Life is what they make it and if they want there home too look this way then so be it.

Samantha Green's STREET ART!

Posted by Samantha Green in ART 9 - Hertz - e1 on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 10:59 am
First let me tell you about this piece of creative street art I made. What I drew was something that has too do with my zodiac sign I am a Cancer July 13th 2001. The type of animal that relates to a Cancer is a Crab and a crab is something that I could think of that defines myself as a person I am very moody but if you don't bother me or touch me I wont bother or touch you. What inspired me to create this piece is that I thought about my personality and the type of person I may portray myself as people say that I am a very mean person or I look very mean . Which is not what I think I think i am just not to be played with all the time and I am actually very nice once you get to know me. For this piece of art location doesn't really matter to me as long as people will be able to see my hard work that I created that means something to me. This project didn't really change my perception of art because because I think that anything someone put there hard work into is a piece art as long as it means something to them and THEY LIKE IT. It doesn't matter about what anyone else thinks of it. As I travel the city I think of art the same way as long as it means something to the person who has made it its art and it makes this City I love in beautiful as long as it isn't offensive in any kind of way.

The Internet And You

Posted by Samantha Green in TECH 1 - Hertz - e2 on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at 9:04 am
The title of my slide as you can see is How is everyone affected by the internet . My first slide word is identity because this tells how the internet can affect you it can make you change how you act in real life and online . My second slide has the word change because what you do online can affect how other people act . Something you post may actually describe how a person can feel and then that can change them because they believed what someone stated is true . My last slide is my number one rule for posting online which is too be mindful , I said this because it can affect you and others around you it can impact on them and there life .

Samantha Green's Identity online

Posted by Samantha Green in TECH 1 - Hertz - e2 on Friday, November 13, 2015 at 1:26 pm

Samantha Green 11-4-15

My identity online is that they say i look mean . I can sing really good im pretty and I have a lot of followers . On social media i am known as Samantha Green or _0713__ those numbers represent my birthday .

Based off of this appearance I think some people may view me as not approachable because i look mean and it makes them not want to talk to me . I also think some people may believe that i'll be a singer when I grow up because I can sing .

What I consider before posting anything on line is thinking about how people may take in what I post . I don't consider anything else because it's my page I can post what I want as long as its not inappropriate and whoever doesn't like it can unfollow me .

The pro’s of sharing things online is that you get to see what other people may think is true or what they agree with .You also get to see the things that are popular today and you get to see the positive things that can make your day when you're feeling a certain way . The con’s of sharing things are that they could be negative or mean things that may offend people it could be bullying harassment or anything offensive to others .

Immediacy , lack Of Control and Permanence control our lives today because Immediacy gives you the urge to post something immediately as soon as you see it and then you can't delete it .  Lack Of Control is in our lives today because you post something then people share and re tweet it and it can't be deleted because its on there page and you lose control because it’s in there possession. Permanence is in our lives today  because it’s when something is online forever and you will never be able to delete it .

My thoughts on social media background checks is that I don't like it because i feel like my social media is what i do what my personal time its what i do when i'm home it has nothing to do with how I would act at work .

Free speech is the right to have your voice heard respectfully . What is protected is religion , the right to petition , to protest and what is not protected is liberal , slander , fighting words , and defamation .

An internet toll is a post or comment under someone's stuff to make them upset and disrupt their conversation .

The goals of the internet tolls are too offend others and disrupt their conversation disrespectfully .

We can stop the trolling by not responding and ignoring them because when you do that they disappear .

The pros of posting anonymously online is that no one will never know who you are unless you tell somebody and they snitch on you . The cons of posting anonymously is that you can get somebody in serious  trouble , you could make them commit suicide based off the stuff you are posting .Top Three tips are …..

  1. NEVER give anyone your password .

  2. BE CAREFUL on what you share/post you will have a lack of control over it .

  3. When you wanna have FREE SPEECH make sure you do it in a respectful way that won't offend anybody .
