Artist Statement- The item that I have constructed is a wand from one of my favorite novel classics, Harry Potter from J.K Rowling. The wand isn’t really that fancy compared to the real thing, but it is better than nothing. A lot of what this wand means for me is that, it depicts the creatively of my own imagination. Or tries to, me, myself, I am not really of an art guy but I always try my best to at least show the effort I give into everything I do.

The person who resigned in this room is my own personal quarters. This room, will contain the regular. Such as a bed, door and couch. The items that are around the room that I find personal to me. Will be a rabbit pillow that lays on my bed, a Dead-pool snap-back hanging on the door, and my favorite hoodie on the couch.

Internet Survival Guide

Posted by Eric Wong in Technology- Freshmen · Hertz · e2 on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 9:56 am
Slide 1- Title
Slide 2- The internet changed today's communications by allowing people to be more connected to each other all across the world. An example of this is FaceBook. This  website allows a wide global connection of people that have access to met and connect with each other.
Slide 3- Immediacy, is how when you post something on the internet. It will be instantly shared to those you are connected to. And example is when you post something on Facebook. For Permanence, it is more like when you did something stupid and people around you would remember it for a long time. In the internet it’s the worse.  People would remember it longer for the fact that it's in the internet. Lack of Control is when you post something, most likely when you think only you have possession of that pic or video. When in reality, about 100 people already have it and shared it. This Lack of Control spreads like wildfire throughout the internet. It can be small if the event is small but it can be very huge where it can hit the media such as the news if the event is crazy enough. All of these 3 things can affect our offline and online identities in many ways. Most of which is very devastating for the person and some can bring up a person's social class position.
Slide 4- One way to actively manage and protect your identity online is to literally never post anything and live on with your life not posting anything that you only want your friends to see. Another way to manage and protect your identity online is to only post things that you feel will not offend anyone, not hurt anyone, and not hurt yourself or your reputation. For example, if you posted something that will not hurt you but offend someone else they may get revenge on you and could post something that could really hurt your reputation.
Slide 5- The internet itself I would say has no rules but the websites that you can access with the internet have a ton of rules and regulations, for example when you enter a website or any other form of social media, games, Etc. They require a terms of use or any other form of rule agreement that you have to accept before using it.
Slide 6- Cyber bullying to me is a form of bullying that really is just on the internet that can take many forms. For example there are forms of cyberbullying from the two people themselves like verbal abuse, but then their are those cases where a person can be saying bad things about the victim on social media just to lower their reputation.
Slide 7- One form can be between two people, one person can be verbally abusing the other, While another form could be between many people and just one person, they all just abuse that one person with hate messages and so on. Such as trolling, mashup, etc.
Slide 8- Victims should always double check their account for things such as hate messages and should always be aware of what their posting because it can seriously backfire and cause destruction.
Slide 9-
  • Try to never use social media.

  • Be aware of what your posting.

  • Be conscious of the people around you and what they may think about a post.

  • Ignore haters /block them or report them if you can.

  • Don’t post anything stupid.

Demi Lovato Drawing Criticism

Posted by Eric Wong in Technology- Freshmen · Hertz · e2 on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 9:54 am

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3820393/Demi-Lovato-criticizes-fan-s-unrealistic-drawing-breasts-prompting-social-media-user-fire-ungrateful-star-body-shaming-version-illustration.html

This article states the criticism Demi Lovato had from social media after when she look at a drawing from Vladimir Serbanescu, a 17 year old Romanian depicting her as a topless mermaid. Besides giving a “positive” feedback to the artist, she stated that her "boobs" are unrealistic and her boobs are not the way they are and that’s not her body. Her "statement" was frowned upon by social media, calling it a rude statement. Many people did support her about her criticism of the drawing and how it's her body and it's her right to view her body the way she likes to. However the hate she also received was overwhelming. Many people who was against her, talked about her eating disorder also how she should be ashame of herself. Vladimir Serbanescu, the artist, felt ashamed and disappointed from her response. This in which, enrages the media more and abuses Demi Lovato more with insults and criticizing her.

“Immediacy” in Demi Lovato’s case is when she replied about her boobs and her body not looking like that to Vladimir Serbanescu drawing. It was instantly known by many who viewed the picture at that time. This soon got way out of control for Demi. Which leads to “Lack of Control”, it spread like a wildfire throughout the internet with many people screenshotting her response and sending to their friends or their own social media page like Facebook. With more people seeing her response, the hate grew too much for her with insults and abuse from the media. Even when that event was over, lots of people still know about it which goes for “Permanence”. Her wrong use of words caused many people to hate her which affected her a lot for her career and personal life. The advice I would give Demi Lovato, is to be mindful of the words you use. Yes, it’s your body and you have the right to view your body the way it is. However with the internet nowadays and how much hard work done to the drawing by Vladimir Serbanescu. You should give positive feedback next time and think before you post your response.
