Lead Poisoning

Posted by George Gee in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · C on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 12:58 am

Our video is a short skit of us educating students on lead Poisoning and explaining the causes and effects. I chose to do lead poisoning for my topic because it isn’t something that I hear about often so I also wanted to educate myself. One thing I did well was work cohesively with my group. If I had to do anything different I’d use my time more wisely. The most meaningful part of my experience creating the PSA was learning to mesh ideas with others to have a good final product.

Sustainability Project Reflection

Posted by George Gee in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · C on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 11:58 pm

Biodiversity and natural resources provide essential ecosystem services such as clean air, water, food, medicine, climate regulation, therefore biodiversity and natural resources are highly valued. Human activities such as, deforestation, burning fossil fuels, urbanization, and agriculture all play a role in altering earth’s natural systems. Individuals can, communities and nations can live more sustainably by minimizing waste generation, conserving water resources, promoting sustainable agriculture, protecting biodiversity, and supporting policies that prioritize environmental conservation and sustainable development. This project helped me further understand how many things play a role into the earth’s sustainability. The information that surprised me most was how many deaths happen in the tech industry.

George Gee - Natural Disasters

How do the earth systems affect each other? Earth Systems affect each other by interacting with each other. This can be on a major scale such as something like a tsunami but on a slower and smaller basis are interactions like soil biodiversity.

How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? Having a common understanding of environmental science can aid in handling natural disasters, by being aware and being able to mitigate some natural disasters. For the ones that cannot be helped an understanding in environmental science can help communities respond in the event of an emergency.

My reaction to my findings was pretty surprising because I had no idea that drought could happen anywhere in the world.
