Harmony Smith Capstone

Posted by Harmony Smith in Senior Capstone · Roy · x1 on Sunday, May 21, 2023 at 11:32 pm

My Senior Capstone Project was a student news Instagram page that was created by me and my partner Suhailah Rice. Before creating this page our idea originally started out as a newspaper. However, we decided that using the internet to create this platform would be more efficient and pleasing to younger viewers. Overall, disregarding the minor setbacks that we faced while completing our project we have taken many things from it and had an enjoyable experience when creating the page.

Food Insecurity PSA by Harmony Smith

Posted by Harmony Smith in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · A on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 11:39 pm

Food insecurity is a serious issue that affects many people, especially in urban areas like Philadelphia. Using the format of crime shows to draw attention to this issue was a creative and effective strategy. It’s great that you and your partner thought about the audience’s perspective and how to make the information accessible and engaging.

It’s also powerful that you were able to make a connection between redlining and food insecurity. Understanding how historical practices like redlining still have an impact on communities today is crucial for addressing social issues and creating change.

Overall, it sounds like you had a positive experience creating this PSA and that you learned a lot about the issue of food insecurity in Philadelphia. It’s great to see young people taking the initiative to raise awareness and create change in their communities.

  1. Earth systems affect each other because they are able to contribute and build off of one another by associating energy and different materials
  2. It will allow people to know why these disasters happen, help get a better understanding of the earth’s systems, and how exactly they work.
  3. To make a more sustainable future we could make the effort to recycle more, use less plastic, limit food waste, and use less energy.
