Think before you post
When she was 13 Amanda Todd made a mistake she deemed harmless at the moment. That mistake snowballed until the end of her life two years later. When Amanda Todd was 15 she committed suicide, because she felt like she was trapped in a situation she had no control over. Her mistake was thinking she could trust someone she deemed trustworthy with pictures of her body. The person who took the pictures decided to distribute them throughout the internet which in turn fueled a campaign to cyberbully Todd. In the two years between Todd’s suicide and the pictures being spread, she turned to self-harm, alcohol and drugs to cope with the immense cyber bullying. Since she realized she couldn’t control the spread of the images or the bullying, she turned to things she felt she could control. She was in a situation she could not control because of social media and she chose to take control of the only thing she felt she could: her life. On October 10,2012 Todd took her life in a response to the bullying she received. Before you post, think about how it affects the other person.
