Fast Plants

Posted by Leon Culbreath in Biochemistry 2 Honors on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at 9:49 pm
  1. Did the F2 generation look like how you predicted them to look? It didn’t come out how I predicted they would’ve looked because they never grew.

  2. Did the parent generation or the F2 generation grow faster? Yes the parent generation grew faster.

  3. What might have hindered your plants' ability to thrive? I think the environment with them being so close to other plants may have hindered their growth.

  4. How do genetics and the environment affect the phenotype of an organism? Genetics affect your base phenotype(default look) and the environment affects what it may look like based on what happens.

  5. Which is a greater indicator of how an organism will look? I think in some cases genetics if the conditions are the same but if a mishap were to occur then the environment is most likely at fault.

  6. A summary of what stood out to you during this course and why.

Over the course of this project we grew plants. We checked out the phenotype and genotype of each plant to see how well those plants would grow. I think overall I enjoyed seeing the growth of other group’s plants. I think this was outstanding how their plants were able to thrive and ours weren’t. With this happening it brought up questions such as “Why did this happen?” or “What are they doing differently”.

My Vision (LOLOL)

Posted by Leon Culbreath in Seminar Junior · Aziz · adv on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 8:05 pm
I have no idea what I want with my life. I think I could be a teacher or a videographer because I like the thought of being both of these. I think I could also go the route focus on the route of taking one of my hobbies seriously and honing my skills in that particular hobby. If all else fails, you can catch me at your local McDonalds or restaurant taking your order, if not that I'm probably dead or making a meme page on some internet outlet.

Q1 Art Project

Posted by Leon Culbreath in Art 2 · Hertz · C1 on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 9:06 am

My art takes a very simplistic to my life. Overall very blunt and not ambiguous. I decided to draw a smiley face (because I’m a happy child) around four things that mean a lot to me. The first thing I added was a playstation controller. I added this because I grew up using playstation consoles. The second thing is uno cards. This is symbolic because it represents the time I spend with my friends and how we bond.I also drew food because I really like food. When I created this project I really wanted to convey my simplistic life and how I value little things.I created this project using the most basic materials. I used your average pencil for drawing and coloring pencils for well, coloring. This is to further convey the simpleness of my art style. I tried my best to merge the colors in the background to have a spacey feel to it.

I would say my friend young gravity inspired this art piece. She makes a lot of space kind of artwork and I really wanted to try out this approach. Blending colors is a very important technique in this artwork. I think so because the background is space so it being monochrome is pretty lame so blending colors would make it good looking.I most proud of finishing this project I feel like I could’ve improved on a lot. I think i should make my color blending better. In conclusion, SPACE.

Q4 Project Tech

Posted by Leon Culbreath on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 9:29 am

Q1 Overview

I wasn’t here first quarter, I went to lower merion. At lower merion, there was a lot white people and they would always follow me around and say ‘yup Leon’. Throughout my journey at lower merion I did not enjoy. The people there were very awkward and the school day was very boring. I wasn’t challenged much so I didn’t much work. In short Lower Merion sucked.

Q2 Overview

So Coming into sla during quarter 2 I had decided to work on a video. In this video I  would make a combo video of me and friends playing super smash brothers melee!!!! In the combo video my aim was to make everyone look sick and good(we aren’t). Unfortunately recording clips on your phone makes the footage look like it was made in 2006. Get a capture card if you can. The video was a pretty good success, I liked the way it panned out.

Q3 Overview

In quarter 3 I did a image editing project. In this project I wanted to highlight the time period in which Leffen was just winning all the tournaments. I decided to take inspiration from Nega Scott’s ending in Scott Pilgrim vs the World the Game.I put Leffen’s face over Nega Scott who was what the picture was about and it was perfect since Leffen is the “Villain” of the community. I put the Gods of melee over the main characters face since they were pretty much unstoppable until Leffen showed up and beat them all.

Revised Project

I decided to go back to my quarter 2 project since I liked it a lot and really enjoyed making it. I couldn’t really salvage footage due to unfortunate circumstances of my memory card with all the footage being stolen. Knowing this I decided to add special effects to some portions of the project and try my best to make it more aesthetically appealing. This proved difficult and I think that at a later

Highpoint

A high point for me was definitely gathering the footage for my combo video. It was an increasingly fun experience and playing my friends was great as well. Overall it was a good way to play and play with a purpose.

Area of Growth

An area of growth would be completing my work in a timely fashion and getting better quality footage. This needs to get better because frankly, the class is easy and fun so there shouldn’t be a reason to not have an A. I also don’t want my footage to look like it was filmed on a potato so a capture card or something that will get footage better would be great

Idea for next year

I wanna build a computer.

Combo Video

Posted by Leon Culbreath on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 1:50 pm

I made my project with the intent to showcase the skills that me and my friends have at the game Super Smash Brother Melee for the Nintendo GameCube.I hoped to learn how to edit videos and make cool combo videos like the ones on YouTube. Many of the difficulties that I have encountered throughout the creation of this video was making the combo finishers match up with the music and it’s cues. It was also pretty hard choosing the music since there are many options to choose from. Making this combo video has taught me how to cut and edit specific clips that would assist in the quality of the combo video. I also learned that the video itself wasn’t a chore because the topic that I choose was something that I’m very passionate about so it kept the drive there. If I were to give any tips it would be to not give up and to always look for ways to improve upon the project. My next project will probably be another combo video or 3D modeling since it seems pretty interesting. The music that I chose to use was Captain America’s theme from Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and I choose to use this because I like his theme and it’s a pretty epic theme. I used Windows Movie Maker and this tool helped me make the combo video because the tools within the application are easy to use and understand. It’s a basic application that’s easy to grasp so that made the process easier and the only hard part was getting the footage to edit.

Ken Masters Room

Posted by Leon Culbreath in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 5:21 pm
My 6 word memoir is "Forward - Down Forward- Forward- Heavy Punch". I chose these words because it is the input for the Ken Masters' signature move, the Shoryuken (Heavy variation). I designed the room to match his personality, show his accomplishments being World Champion, and show his love for his family Eliza(wife) and Mel(son).

20xx Highschool Style

Posted by Leon Culbreath in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at 9:49 pm
The meaning of this artwork is that 20xx existed even in high school, Fox was just practicing his tech skill before Melee. I chose to make this art because lately I've been practicing Melee and playing with Fox McCloud. I chose to put my artwork on the door of the game room because that's  where me and my friends play Melee. This changed my perception of art by helping me see that the world is a blank canvas waiting to be used. This has changed my perception of street art by showing me that it isn't vandalism it's art and it's  beautiful.

My social media survival guide

Posted by Leon Culbreath in Technology- Freshmen - Hertz - a2 on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 10:40 am
  • I am a person trying to hard to be funny on the internet,I would appear similarly like I do outside the internet .

  • I think people perceive me as a normal person who tries to hard to be funny .

  • I tend to think about whether or not the content is funny before I post it.

  • A pro of sharing online is that you communicate with others over great distances.A con is that if you post something inappropriate then everyone can see it.

  • A lack of control is that if you post something then it’s on the internet, you can’t control if people see it or not.Permanence is the fact that once you post it’s there for good.Immediacy is the fact that people can immediately find stuff out about you through your posts on the Internet.

Free speech is that anyone can speak their mind. What isn't protected is slander, fighting words, liable, obscenity, etc.
If you want to be on the internet, be aware of what you post. You should also be aware of who could view your content. Finally be aware of the rules of the internet and that if you post something you lose control over it.
