Logan Green Capstone

Posted by Logan Green in Capstone on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:46 pm

For my Capstone, I decided to have a music showcase alongside my partner, Mark. The goal was to showcase our talents that we’ve been crafting together for our entire high school career, and long before. We also wanted to give other youth an opportunity to showcase and share their ideas with us in what musicians call a shed. This proved to be a somewhat grueling process. This process included finding a venue, obtaining equipment, tons of practice and rehearsal, and a lot of other detailing and polishing to make the event as successful as possible. The product, turned out to be an extremely enjoyable encounter. Overall, this experience taught me that there is a lot of work that goes into event planning, and every little detail could greatly affect the turnout. For this reason I’m quite happy to have chosen this for my senior Capstone.

Q3 Project: Image Editing

Posted by Logan Green in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 9:16 am
For this project, I edited an original image. Through this i was hoping to learn how to use some photo editing tools. To begin, I chose a topic to take a picture of (body portrait). I then took the photo and found an editing tool to use (PicsArt and Pixlr). Then I edited the picture according to what I thought would make it better.
A success I had during this project was learning to use a camera, as well as a photo editing tool. A failure that I encountered was the first editing tools I attempted to use. This is because they were really difficult to use and didn’t contain any tutorials. Ultimately, I learned how to edit pictures to fit a theme and use various cropping, filtering, and enhancing tools to do so.
Through this project, I learned that I can be creative in certain avenues. I’m not always as expressive but I think that I’m pretty good at editing photos. If I were to do this project over again, I would choose a different editing tool, sooner. For others, I would suggest choosing a tool that someone can teach you to use or a tool that contains tutorials.
These tools helped me convey my message in many ways. I used a blur tool to change the focus from the background, to the person. Next I used a sharpening tool around the edges of the person to give it more depth. Then, I chose a custom color (light bluish color) and filtered it into the picture. Finally, I chose border to make the picture stand out a little more. My goal was basically to show the coolness of winter. As my favorite season, I wanted to show how interesting and calm winter is. Overall, I think a good job of portraying this smooth message and I would do this project again.

3D Model of a Drum Set

Posted by Logan Green in Intro to Design and Multmiedia on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 9:04 am
My goal for this project was to make a creative, appealing 3D model drum set. To do this, I used a modeling program called "Clara.io". First, I made all of the drums from cylinders, and then the cymbals. The last step of this process was to make the cymbal stands and then align all of the drums so that they are symmetrical.
I was very successful at learning the program and most of the tools it had to offer. I learned how to manipulate shapes within the program to create a lot of different looks. I also learned how to add texture and color to the shapes that I made. What I learned about myself during this process is that I'm really good at self-learning, but I need to focus on following through with simple things like checkpoints.
If I would do this project again, the only thing I would do differently is submit all of the checkpoints. For anyone attempting this project, my advice would be to watch all of the tutorial videos. This will be really helpful in getting the exact look you want for your design.
Clara.io really helped me to get the look I was hoping for in this design. You can change virtually any detail on any shape. This made it really easy for me in the learning and creation processes because all of the tools I needed were available. All I had to do was play around with the program and I'd eventually figure out what I needed to do. This project has inspired me to take this model into the makerspace to recreate it.

Q1 Benchmark Project

Posted by Logan Green on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 9:39 pm
For this project, our job was to create a personal-portfolio website. This website basically shows off the work we do. I began the project with a little background knowledge on how to create a website because I've already taken a class similar to this. For this reason, I had no trouble creating a website through technology I was already familiar with. The source I used was Wix. The website gives you tons of templates to start your website from as well as suggestions on how you should organize your content. As far as advice for other students, just be sure to complete all of your checkpoints. This will ensure that you're on track and on target to meet the deadline. When using whatever median you choose to make your website, just know it takes time to understand how it works. With a little experimentation, you should be able to make your own website. Overall, I had fun doing this fun, simple project.

Creating a Coffee Table/Charging Station

Posted by Logan Green in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - C2 on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 11:07 am
For the third quarter I was partnered with Louie. We decided to build a coffee table that contained a charging station to go in the new library that is being made. Our process was simple. First, we used a LucidPress chart to map out the custom measurements and how we wanted the table to fit together. Next, we used the makerspace to cut the various lengths of wood. For the legs, we connected them on either side closest to each other by using a reinforced triangle technique. This ensured the table was as strong as possible. For the picnic-style tabletop, we overlayed several long, vertical boards onto 3, shorter horizontal boards and glued them together. Then we took the two pairs of legs and the tabletop and put them together with nails of sufficient lengths. The final step was to put a power strip into the undercarriage of the table using velcro. This allows it to be removed or replaced if it malfunctions. Overall, this was an easy project and we had a ton of fun learning how to use the different tools.
