Art Project 4th Quarter

Posted by Savion Cummings in ART ADV - Hertz - C1 on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 5:43 pm

This is project is one that I started in the 2nd quarter I Realized that the school doesn't have anything from the seniors starting class as far as artwork goes so I created this piece below based off of the student bodies and my own opinion on the school and life.

This project was one I did in the first quarter I wanted to do a painting because I always draw and I wanted to see how skilled I could be with a paint brush. I wanted a symbolic mother earth in my piece and a Clift the entire piece was based around the idea of having a clift the piece was supposed to

As an artist I don't think I have grown too much. I haven't pushed my artistic skill I just did something different through each quarter. I knew exactly what I was doing with the art and just executed, it was pretty easy.

I have learned that as far as the research goes I don’t have any drive to be consistent with the research. And it would be easier for me to just tell you why I did what I made

  • “What have you learned about making Art?”

I haven’t learned much about art this year tbh I was mainly experimenting with different ideas and cultivating the skill set I already possessed and based my pieces around an Idea I had. I’d go as far as to saying I challenged myself with certain aspects of my creation.

  • “What have you learned about yourself through the projects you have created?”

I learn that I can be versatile with the equipment I use for creative purposes. All I really need is to have the right teacher and a few classes to master the skill and work things out visually and inside of my head as far as the techniques I gather for my art work.

  • Which project are you most proud of and why?

  • This should include an image of the project

I like the painting because it came out nearly like the way I wanted it too even though the original idea was more complex and might have looked better I enjoy the Pieces simpleness.

  • What is your biggest weakness or area in need of growth has been this year?

I biggest weaknesses I think are the fact that I shade pretty horrifically and I have a hard time scaling images up freehand, it always comes out too small or too big or things become disproportionate.

  • What kind of Art you want to make next.

Most likely a 3D model of something or I’d try different styles of drawing and paining because there's sooo much I have to learn from each art form. Maybe spray painting or really anything.

  • What kind of Art inspires you the most and why (MUST include a copyright free/Creative Commons licensed image and a citation for that image)

Music inspires me the most but lol as far as visuals all art that shows a new perspective of what we commonly see

Creating my colorful Spiral of Theodorus was very easy. You first start out with a right triangle with the dot and with the base and the height being 1 inch. Then, using the Pythagorean theorem, which is a2 + b2 = c2 , to find the hypotenuse. Then you continue, as each triangle will become larger.

Creating the spiral of theodorus was really simple all you have to do is make a dot in the center of a page and measure one length. The you would use a protractor then line it up the the end of the first line then at 90 degrees mark a dot then draw a line to connect it. You would repeat those steps over and over. The math was easy all you have to do is use the Pythagorean theorem which is a^2 + b^2 = C^2.

Just continue to make right angles and make sure one side is 1 inch and you will make a spiral. The math is super simple because once you know the square root of the first triangle it's pretty easy to find the rest.
