​       For our senior capstone My partner Sakura Seals and I decided to create a video about friendship. We wanted to create a video that expresses how the friendships you make at SLA shape you into the person you are today. For the 4 years of attending SLA Beeber, there has been some up and downs within friends. Meanwhile, there has always been a great support system within our friends, whether it is emotionally, physically and intellectually. Which we fail to realize because we end up to become too prideful and let certain things get to us. However, starting 10th grade year, Sakura Seals and I became friends. Then, became closer through the years and decided to do our capstone together.
       The capstone process has been long and stressful. My partner Sakura and I have struggled with coming up what to do for our capstone. We first decided to do a fashion show, but unfortunately we weren’t able to do so. Similarly to doing the fashion show we decided to put on a school plays which, also didn't really work out the way we wanted it to. As a result , of our unsuccessful capstone ideas, my partner and I finally decided on creating a video, that was inspired  by our Principal Mr. Johnson who spoke about friends helping each other out to succeed. Although, we had encountered many ups and down on the capstone journey we had finally produced the final product to our capstone that we can say we are proud of.

​Welcome to my portfolio. My portfolio consist of information about me, my resume, projects and a contact section. When creating my portfolio, it was to have a set look for myself and for others to view and know. As a start, I began to do a layout within the wireframe. When it came to do the wireframe, it was easy for me. However, as I really started to create my website I changed my whole layout. I began to do my website on wix.com. I started to choose a background. I tried to pick out something colorful and bright but not distracting to my viewers. I decided to do a sunset background within images of myself, family, projects and programs that I am involved in. Meanwhile, creating information within my resume made me really think about what I’ve done and what can I do more in my community and in today’s society. 
After my set background and layout was provided on my website, I began to do my about page. At first, I did forget that I was making a website and decided to put too much information about myself. Within the next two components of my resume and project section, it was less stressful than making the about me page. When creating a resume, I had already updated it during my college program. Nevertheless, within my project section I talked about a personal Spanish project. 
Completing my portfolio, there were errors that I had made. Some were little errors and some were big ones. However, I did achieve my goal by making it simple but detailed. Next time, I hope to make things clearer and more creative.

​Reflection 
For this quarter 3 benchmark, it was focusing on traveling around the world. Our components were to do a brochure, a Powerpoint or Prezi, a commercial and a presentation. Based on the information of hotels, transportation, museums, restaurants, activities, shopping, shows, day life and night life of your chosen Spanish speaking country. During my time on this project, as a group I believe that we try very hard to use our time that we had. However, in the end of submitting this project, I did not submit the video on time. Meanwhile, this was a good project to see how hard it is to be a traveling agency.

El/La Poeta: Octavio Paz


  1. Octavio Paz fue un escritor mexicano, poeta y diplomático. Octavio Paz nació en marzo treinta y uno, mil novecientos catorce en la Ciudad de México, México. Paz padres fueron Octavio Paz Solórzano y Josefina Lozano. Su padre fue un activo defensor de la revolución contra los Díaz régimen. Se crió en el pueblo de Mixcoac, criado por su madre, Josefina, su tía Amalia Paz, y su abuelo Ireneo Paz. Su abuelo biblioteca de Mexicana clásica y la literatura europea introdujo Paz a literatura de famosos escritores españoles. Que ayudó a Paz comenzó a escribiendo a una edad temprana y en mil novecientos treinta y siete, viajó a Valencia, España, a participar en el segundo Congreso Internacional de escritores antifascistas. Él fue llamado por la defensa de la cultura en España durante la guerra civil. Cuando regresó en mil novecientos treinta y ocho, Paz fundó una revista literaria, 'Taller'. En el mismo año, conoció y se casó con Elena Garro. La pareja tuvo una hija, Helena. Paz continuó escribiendo 'Taller' hasta mil novecientos cuarenta y uno. En mil novecientos cuarenta y tres, recibió una Beca Guggenheim y comenzó a estudiar en la Universidad de California en Berkeley en los Estados Unidos. Dos años después, Paz unió al servicio diplomático mexicano y trabajó en Nueva York durante algún tiempo. Fue enviado a París, donde escribió "El Laberinto de la Soledad". Como una posición del embajador sostuvo de mil novecientos sesenta y dos a mil novecientos sesenta ocho. Paz dimitió como la protesta sobre el manejo del gobierno mexicano de demostraciones estudiantiles durante los Juegos Olímpicos. Produjo más de treinta libros y colecciones de la poesía en su vida. Paz recibió numerosos premios por su trabajo, incluso el Premio Nobel por la literatura en mil novecientos noventa. Murió durante abril diecinueve mil, mil novecientos noventa y ocho en Ciudad de México, México.


  2. Theresa Afia Debrah nació en veinte y seis de noviembre de mil novecientos noventa y nueve. Theresa nació y se crió en Yeadon, Filadelfia, pero de ella familia es de Accra, Ghana. A la edad de nueve meses, Theresa cayó en las escaleras y estuvo en coma durante tres meses. Después de su lesión iba hacia adelante y hacia atrás a la terapia. En el 4 de julio de dos mil cuatro, Theresa padre murió, así que era solo que su madre, Vida Debrah, levantando otras dos chicas por ella misma. Es fue difícil para el Debrah familia a veces pero lo hicieron a través de después de un par de años. En el dos mil seis, Theresa asistió Penrose escuela primaria, durante sus años de escuela elemental, ingresó en el debate y la poesía club y jugando al voleibol. En dos mil catorce, Theresa se graduó después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria, ella quería tener derecho y criminología para clases en la universidad. Cuando tuvo la edad, ella era más enfoque a trabajar con la oficina federal de investigación, leyendo libros y viendo programas de televisión acerca de su carrera. Durante el Theresa's  escuela secundaria año en motivación high school, se unió a un programa llamado universidad de Harcum hacia arriba enlazado trío. Theresa luchó su frescura en motivación alta escuela y decidió marcharse, pero ella no sabía qué escuela para ir a. Ahora, ella está actualmente en la ciencia de la academia de liderazgo beeber la escuela secundaria, sigue centrándose en su carrera de ser aparte de la oficina federal de investigación.

4. "Como uno escucha la lluvia" por Octavio Paz, creo que este poema tema es ser un oyente activo y las causas y efectos para convertirse en un oyente activo. La primera línea "Escúchame como uno escucha la lluvia" nos dice mucho acerca de lo que el poema significa por que cuando llueve la gente escucha atentamente a los distintos sonidos fuera, pero cuando se trata de escuchar una conversación, la gente no escuchar activamente, o incluso participar en la conversación que está teniendo. Mis pensamientos sobre este poema es que hay una chica que se expresa a sí misma que realmente nadie escucha a ella. Sin embargo, cuando llueve la gente usa sus cinco sentidos sin siquiera darnos cuenta y centrarse en la lluvia escuchando la lluvia o el viento. Entretanto el poema continúa, "Escúchame como uno escucha la lluvia, asfalto húmedo es brillante, el vapor sube y se aleja, la noche se despliega y me mira, eres tú y tu cuerpo de vapor," la persona emoción comienza a cambiar cuando él o ella habla como si ella está perdiendo su aliento al hablar por un largo tiempo. Al final, nadie todavía escucha.

​This was our quarter 3 project, which was a poetry project. For this poetry project, there were 5 components to do a autobiography, reflection of the poem you had chosen, biography of the poet and create your own poem, base off your reflection of the poet's poem. When doing this project, I believe that I had used my time wisely, that I enjoyed doing this project. My favorite two components on the poetry project was my autobiography and creating my own poem because my process during those two components were memorable to me. Lastly, I really enjoyed doing this project because I used my time correctly that I didn't have to rush and not put things that I wanted to say in the poetry project.

El primero gemelo  Jaelyn Valencia   nació en diciembre treinta y uno veinte quince en son las once y cincuenta y nueve por la noche, dos minutos más tarde su hermano gemelo Luis Valencia Jr. nació el primero de enero veinte dieciséis en son las doce y uno por la mañana. En esta foto Jaelyn tiene su ojos abiertos mientras que su hermano está dormido. Jaelyn llevaba un traje de impresión guepardo y un sombrero de color rosa mientras que su hermano llevaba la camiseta más linda que dice "perfecto caballero" y un sombrero azul. Hablamos con sus padre que Luis Valencia Sr. Luis dijo que estaba muy emocionado porque no esperaban a gemelos! Mientras que los gemelos eran aún están en el vientre materno Luis Jr fue en posición de nalgas, es por eso los gemelos eran llevados tres minutos aparte. The first twin Jaelyn Valencia was born on December 31 2015 at 11:59 at night, two minutes later her twin brother Luis Valencia Jr. was born January first 2016 at 12:01 in the morning. In this picture Jaelyn has her eyes open while her brother is asleep. Jaelyn was wearing a cheetah print outfit and a pink hat while her brother wore the cutest shirt that said “perfect gentleman” and a blue hat.  We caught up with her father Luis Valencia Sr. Luis said that he was so excited because they weren’t expecting twins at all! While the twins were still in the womb Luis Jr was in breech position, which is why the twins were born three minutes apart. This is a perfect story for the new year. Don’t you agree Ashton?

Now let me just skip to the chase The Olsen Twins with their first shoe line. How exciting is that. Ok let's be honest here i'm too young for grandma looking shoes. But for good quality I would buy these shoes any day. Even if it kills my pockets. Like seriously these shoes will kill your pockets. These go from $850 to $1,350. These shoes are completely Italian-made and very comfortable for your feet. Also, Comes in array of colors,fabrics and prints and good for warm spring days. They will hit stores soon so keep an eye out for these shoes. No matter how bad they look just keep saying to yourself comfy feet. These two are keeping busy with their fashion empire. Now all they need at the top of their list is changing their mind about joining the Netflix original series full house spin off. Like what’s full house without Michelle Tanner am I right or am I right.

Theresa's “Día de los Muertos”

When I was 4 years old, my father Peter Debrah, passed away on July 4, 2004 in Ghana. When my dad died I was young so growing up I didn’t really remember anything about him. During the years he was alive, when I was born he use to travel back and forth to Ghana, so I barely got the chance to see him. Although, even when he was with me, he would be at work as a engineer . However, he had gotten a second job as a DJ. So with all of that it, I was not with him all the time that I could remember my lifestyle with him. My dad meant the world to me as much as my mother does. Growing up, everyone said that I was his twin and I acted just like him. Even though, I don’t remember him and what he has taught me. I feel like he has a great impact on me and my life.
 When I was giving the task to create my sugar skull for “Día de los Muertos”. I automatically thought about my dad. It has been eleven years ever since he died. However, when it comes to his birthday or the day he died, me and my family never did anything for him until last year. When I was little, I would write letters thinking he would get them. Putting it under my pillow so that the tooth fairy would give it to him. I realize doing this can bring some happy and sad thoughts but I can represent him through the sugar skull and tell others about him.
 During my creation of the sugar skull, I thought so hard about what would I do. Coming to a conclusion last minute, it was right in front of my face. I decided to the flag of which my dad was from. Which is Ghana, the colors were red, yellow and green with a black star in the middle of the yellow. Making the sugar skull his flag shows and explains his background and different morals he had in life  from others. Also, choosing the sugar skull as the Ghana flag represents more than just my dad but the whole Ghana community. As my dad and mom once said “At the end of the day, us Ghanaians we are a family”. So I just didn’t want to think about my dad but my history/generation who I and others have lost.
 Día de los Muertos opened my mind up to celebrating the passing of my love ones by realizing that no one is fully dead if their not spoken of. As I talk about my dad, now I actually feel like he is listening. This celebration brings thoughts to my dad who is paradise that he is gone but not forgotten. Also, that I will truly cherish him everyday and tell my future kids that he was just not my dad but my keeper.









Spanish Eulogy
Hola, mi nombre es Theresa Debrah, yo soy la última niña naca de Peter y Vida Debrah. Yo soy hablando sobre mi padre, Peter Debrah quién falleció cuando yo teno cuatro año.
(Hi, my name is Theresa Debrah, I am the last born child of Peter and Vida Debrah. I will be talking about my father, Peter Debrah who passed away when I was 4)

Mi padre, Peter fue nacido el quince de marzo del año de mil novecientas noventa y cinco en Accra, Ghana. Él naco y elevado allí, pero se trasladó a filadelfia.
(My father, Peter was born on March 5, 1955 in Accra, Ghana. He was born and raised there but moved to Philadelphia in 1995)

Mi padre fue un ingeniero y un productor de música. También el viajar atrás y lejos para ver a sus otros hijos.
(My father was an engineer and an DJ. He would also travel back and forth to see his other kids)

Mi papá fue un trabajador, cómico y abierto. El fué comprensivo y decidir hacer algo para hacer un mejor futuro para mí y para mi hermanas.
(My dad was hardworking, funny and outspoken. He was understanding and determine to make a better future for me and my sisters)

Búsqueda atrás en el pasado y creer en mi papá hace daño. Aunque han pasado diez aña, todavía pienso en él, hasta este día. Yo creer ¿por qué él tenía que salir tan pronto? Él faltó mi vida en el preescolar, a partir de jardín de infancia, comienzo de escuela secundaria y asi que mucho más. Para mí hablando sobre antes no ayudó, sin embargo ahora me siento cómodo hablando de él y todavía derramando una lágrima. En conclusión, él está mirando sobre mí de un lugar mejor.
(Looking back at the past and thinking about my dad does hurt. Even though it has been ten years I still think about him til this day. It is like why did he have to leave so soon. He missed out on me going to preschool, starting kindergarten, my report cards, starting high school and so much more. For me talking about it before didn’t help, however now I am comfortable talking about him and still shedding a tear. In conclusion, he is watching over me from a better place)

For our Spanish Benchmark, it was the Day of the Dead. Within the Day Of The Dead, our task were to create a sugar skull and a mask representing a person that passed away in your family or someone that means the word to you. For the day of the dead project, I did my dad who died when I was 4.

Title: Ivy’s Días De Descanso




Página 1

El Narrador- Dos  días antes Navidad, todo atravesar la casa el es frio, despertarse en el  medio de él noches a obtener caliente chocolate pero… Una noche cuando ella fue a buscar el chocolate caliente, ella no sentía tan buena.

Página Dos

Ivy- “Mamá, mamá, mamá” escrito Ivy.

Madre- ¿Qué pasa?

Ivy- No me siento bien

Madre- ¿Tienes frío?
Ivy- Sí mamá. ¿Tenemos chocolate caliente en la cocina? |
Madre- Sí, yo voy a ir hace algunos.
Ivy- Gracias, mamá


Página Tres

El Narrador- Cinco minutos más tarde en tres y cinco en la mañana, Ivy la mamá aún está en la cocina haciendo la hiedra de chocolate caliente. Como hiedra sigue esperando a ella chocolate caliente, ella salir de su cama y mira por la ventana. Para averiguar ese está nevando y ella vuelve a la cama.


Página Cuatro
La madre de Ivy finalmente está hecho y sube las escaleras . Entrando en la habitación de la hiedra ", aquí tienes Ivy , añadí malvaviscos en el interior de la manera que les guste ", dijo la madre de Ivy. Sin decir una palabra , un minuto más tarde la madre de Ivy da cuenta de que Ivy está durmiendo y pone el chocolate caliente de Ivy en la mesa.

Página Cinco
Sensación frío y sueño, madre ivy's vuelve a ella habitación y se queda dormida. 2 horas más tarde a 5:30 de la mañana, el día antes de Navidad, Ivy es despierto vomitando con mala dolor de cabeza. "Mamá, mamá no me siento bien, mis dolores de estómago", dijo Ivy.

Página Seis
" Ivy es realmente malo que tienes que ir al hospital? ", dijo Ivy's madre. Pensando en el hospital hace Ivy más enfermos, miedo y ella dice "Estoy asustado mamá , ya sabes que" . "Creo que voy a descansar en mi cama y llamo a uno de mis amigos ", dijo Ivy. " Esta bien Ivy , si necesitas algo estaré abajo poniendo la estrella en la parte superior del árbol de Navidad ", dijo la madre de Ivy's.




Página Siete
Mientras Ivy se encuentra todavía en ella habitación y sensación de frío y enfermo , ella llama todos sus amigos , Lisa , Deja y Kayla pero nadie contesta el teléfono . Al mismo tiempo , madre Ivy's está abajo en el teléfono con todos de Ivy's amigos , planeando una sorpresa para Ivy.


Página Ocho

"Hola Kayla , Lisa y Deja , yo sé que es el día antes de Navidad , pero Ivy no se siente bien ", dijo madre Ivy's. ¿Qué hay de malo con Ivy , Ms.Taylor " dijo Lisa . " Ella está enferma con un fuerte dolor de cabeza . Así que yo quería saber si va a ser posible para todos ustedes por venir a verla ", dijo Ivy mamá.

Página Nueve
" Por supuesto, estaremos allí" todos dijeron . " Muy bien niñas eso es genial, ver ustedes pronto. Madre Ivy's cuelga el teléfono y empezar a hornear unas galletas para las niñas y los acabados con envolver los regalos .

Página Diez
El timbre suena tres veces , Ms.Taylor abre la puerta diciendo a las niñas a no hacer un sonido para Ivy para escuchar . "Mamá , quién está aquí ", dijo Ivy. Sin respuesta , Ivy se levanta de la cama para ir a cepillarse ella dientes y se pone ella suéter de Navidad y los pantalones con ella cálidos calcetines.

Página Once
Ivy fue abajo las escaleras para ver a nadie más que a ella madre, pero Kayla , Deja y Lisa y dijeron SORPRESA !! Con la hiedra en estado de shock , se da la vuelta para abrazar a todos sus amigos. Por último , el timbre suena otra vez para abrir la puerta Deja, Kayla y Lisa padres. Se convierte en una fiesta de Nochebuena.

EL FIN!
For this Spanish project, we had to create a children's book about someone waking up and getting sick or going to school and get sick or going to school and going to the hospital. Within this project, I creating the book with a little girl waking up and getting sick. However, the little girl named Ivy doesn't like hospitals, so her mom has to become her doctor. In the end, she is still sick, celebrating Christmas with her friends and family.
