Victoria Brodie Capstone

Posted by Victoria Brodie in Senior Capstone · Bentum on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 7:30 pm

For my capstone, I decided to put on a fashion show with two other classmates. Over a couple of months, we decide the theme for the show would be springtime and the flowers that bloom. Thinking of a theme took us some time because we had to keep in mind our time, budget, and skills, but we were up for the challenge either way. While still planning our theme, we wanted to stay on schedule by selecting other students who wanted to participate in our show by putting up “models wanted” posters all around the school. After 2 weeks, we collected our posters and held auditions, choosing 10 models. The following week, we took all the models’ measurements to prepare for making their outfits. As a team we discussed that the best way to balance the workload was by assigning three outfits to create among the three of us. This was very helpful so that I could get their outfits done while still working on other things for school. This process of planning and creating has led us to the fashion show to be held on May 23rd, 2025.

Chemical Spills PSA

Posted by Victoria Brodie in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:29 pm

Our video starts with fish doing their daily things and then getting affected by an oil spill, basically showing how our environment is being destroyed. Then we continued to show and explain that we live in a beautiful world of life and what is being done to it. Next, the video mentions how if we don’t take care of this problem it could lead human life to be something no one wants to live in… a horror story. I chose this topic because I think many people overlook that those worldwide don’t have access to clean water. Everyone should have access to clean water regardless of class, race, etc, it’s a basic human necessity. What I really enjoyed about making this PSA was doing the research and learning more about the problems many citizens face on a daily basis especially how hard they have to work in order to find water.

Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Victoria Brodie in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Monday, March 18, 2024 at 9:30 pm

The value of biodiversity offers many resources that humans and animals need to survive, such as shelter, food, and a balance to the earth as a whole. Sadly many human actions alter the Earth’s natural system such as deforestation, overfishing, burning of fossil fuels, and many more. Individuals can try to cut down our electricity and even their transportation, by having a timer for their lights so that they can cut off or they could try to ride their bikes to and from the place if they can.

This project helped me to understand there are many different ways to be sustainable other than using expensive solar panels for everything. When researching the clothing industry’s Eco footprint I didn’t know that making clothes has a large water usage, they surprised me. I never really knew how certain clothes were made and what was involved in collecting resources and processing them to then be turned into material. I contributed by finding sustainable practices we could use for our clothing company as well as taking all our information and putting it on slides. I also helped with the making of our physical model by buying materials and working during lunch to get some stuff done. I was really proud of all the information we had found as well as the teamwork put into finishing the final product.

THE LANDSLIDE MASSACRE by Victoria Brodie

Posted by Victoria Brodie in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Monday, October 23, 2023 at 10:26 am

How do the earth’s systems affect each other? How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters?

The earth’s systems are all interconnected, the geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere, each one has an effect on the earth whether it’s, a volcano eruption, rain, greenhouse gasses, and many others.

A basic understanding of environmental science can help you understand natural disasters because you will have knowledge of how they happen and how to prepare for them. Environmental science teaches various disasters that can happen on our planet, and by learning this you can identify signs of an upcoming natural disaster and take steps to prepare for them.
