Menlinda Zayzay Capstone

For my senior capstone, I decided to make a short film about malaria. I choose this topic because many people out there do not know about this disease, and the few people that know about it don’t know how dangerous it can be. I also wanted to show the world how we treat each other these days as a human. The purpose of my project is to teach young people about loving and caring for one another. I included this in my video because there are people out there who have lost their loved ones from malaria diseases and other people doesn’t seem to care about it because they are not in that situation. Creating this video was a little bit difficult for me because I had to focus on doing my school assignments and benchmarks and I sometimes forget that I have a capstone to work on. Also, getting people to be in the video was difficult. I had a little bit of a hard time editing the video but everything turns out to be really good.  I’m glad that I choose this topic because I have learned so much about malaria while doing my research, and I hope that people learn something from the video after watching it.

Abstracts:
For my capstone, I want to do resources about asthma disease. I decided to do this because I want to know more about asthma as well as give information to others. I can give people more information about asthma based on my project information. I did not know much about Asthma attacks and or how to control it. Through this year-long project, I wanted to reach out to my mentor  about researching online. I always work with the mentor once a week so we found out how to teach about Asthma and to teach myself about diseases.
I wanted to teach people about asthma in a compelling method. I wanted to create something that people could easily access and understand. I aimed to produce work that was content rich and concise. So in order to meet all my requirements, I’ve created slideshow parts to my work and give a brief background on the project.  The project goal was to improve the quality of asthma care given to pediatric patients by promoting inclusion of the asthma guidelines into the primary care setting, providing caregivers and children asthma self-management skills to improve asthma outcomes. In addition, the project provided educational instructions to both children with asthma and their caregivers to facilitate asthma self-management. The mission of the capstone project was to provide evidence to the capstone panel to improves pediatric asthma control. The vision of the asthma project was to reduce the asthma burden in children at the community health center and to increase asthma preventative care services to the undeserved children in the community.
