Mahmud Alam Capstone
I interned in a private tutorial program called Ifty's Tutorial for my Capstone to improve my communication and teaching skills, while also learning about how children study and how to teach them more effectively. I worked with students from grades 1 to 6, assisting them with their classwork and homework. Initially, I was timid and worried about making mistakes, but later, as I got used to it. I became more confident and composed. I learned and observed through Tutor Ifty, who teaches in a friendly and patient way instead of being strict. I tried Ifty’s ways of teaching to better interact with the students, especially the ones who get distracted easily or who are less interested in learning. I learned how important it is to be respectful, calm, and interesting to make learning fun for students. This project taught me that there is more to teaching than just giving instructions; it's more about creating trust and making students feel safe and encouraged. I also learned that I love working with children and impacting their lives in any way I can. One of the best moments was when a parent once informed me that their child now likes learning and looking forward to it; this revealed the real impact I have made through this experience. Through this project, I have developed better communication skills, patience, and leadership skills that will benefit me in the future in my life and career. It was a great experience that helped both my personal growth and the students I worked with.
