Reflection: Provide a summary of the contents of your video and a rationale for why YOU chose this topic, in paragraph form.

My video showcases the problems surrounding pollution and in the video, it’s me drinking water that is polluted, in which I die. Then, you will see that there are balloons being sent up in the air, in memory of me. There is a news reporter that talks about the harmful effects of chemicals in the water. In the video, a turtle eats one of the papers on the ground and dies from it. I chose this topic because I needed to address the importance of water pollution and the negative effects that it has on the people and the environment. People need to know the importance of it so that they can be cautious and to know the effects of it.

What did you do well and what could you have done differently?

I felt like I was able to describe the effects of water pollution clearly and how to avoid the dangerous/ poisonous pesticides in the water. I was able to portray what happens if you drink polluted water. The thing that I could have done differently is to provide more examples of what happens if you drink polluted water.

What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA?

The most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA was making a video about water pollution and the malicious outcomes of drinking water with pesticides with it.

PSA-Chemical Spills

Posted by Noah Traister in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:55 pm

Our PSA begins by showcasing several lush and flourishing environments while a charming Narrator talks about the dangers of chemical spills. Then The video shows an example of what drinking contaminated water can do to a person. Afterwards the video displays several harmful chemical spills and their effect on the environment.

I’m not entirely sure why we chose this topic because I was absent that day.

My favorite part of the PSA was storyboarding and planning what it would look like.

The most meaningful part was the video itself

Gabrielle Robinson PSA

Posted by Gabrielle Robinson in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:40 pm

Our video starts with 2 kids that don’t have any food or money and can’t reach their mom because she’s not at home. The the mom comes home and tells the kids and audience that she has a plan to fix food insecurity. My group chose this topic because it is an issue that is very common in the communities of Philadelphia. I contributed ideas to my group but i feel like i could always be a more active member. The most meaning part of our PSA is the message that it spreads about how food insecurity is a serious issue that needs fixing.

PSA-Food Insecurity

Posted by Sophia Mendoza in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:34 pm

Within our short PSA we showcase a series of things. We show the dark side to food insecurity, a spark of ideas to help this issue and we explain how our solution will work. Personally, I chose food insecurity as my topic because I feel like that’s the most relevant issue I see in america as a whole and I feel like it needs more attention.

I think something that I did well was explain food insecurity and handle the editing on the video.

The most meaningful part was collecting the data about food insecurity and how it affects a community.

Chemical Spills PSA

Posted by Victoria Brodie in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 9:29 pm

Our video starts with fish doing their daily things and then getting affected by an oil spill, basically showing how our environment is being destroyed. Then we continued to show and explain that we live in a beautiful world of life and what is being done to it. Next, the video mentions how if we don’t take care of this problem it could lead human life to be something no one wants to live in… a horror story. I chose this topic because I think many people overlook that those worldwide don’t have access to clean water. Everyone should have access to clean water regardless of class, race, etc, it’s a basic human necessity. What I really enjoyed about making this PSA was doing the research and learning more about the problems many citizens face on a daily basis especially how hard they have to work in order to find water.

Alex Zajko - chemical spills

Posted by Alexandra Zajko in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 8:13 pm

Our video starts with showing the environment as our home. Then it shows and talks about the effects of oil or chemical spills, including the mess left in waterways as well as an acted out scene of someone being poisoned from the water. It ends with showing how the chemicals are being cleaned up as well as a warning for the future. I chose this topic because I feel that it is not talked about as much as some other environmental justice issues. I think I edited our video pretty well. Maybe we could have had more acting scenes. The most meaningful part of creating this PSA is to advocate for chemical spills (or other pollution) that is affecting our waterways.

Lead Poisoning PSA by Christina Miller

Posted by Christina Miller in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Sunday, May 12, 2024 at 1:41 pm

I chose to do lead exposure/lead posing because it is a growing issue in Philadelphia. Our video shows some symptoms of lead poisoning and shows the areas where lead exposure is most common. What did you do well and what could you have done differently? I think we could have tried to plan out how we were going to show the symptoms of lead poisoning. What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA? The most meaningful part of making this PSA was to think about how we could inform people and the government.

Angelina-Water Pollution

Posted by Angelina Cruz in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · B on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 8:32 am

Provide a summary of the contents of your video and a rationale for why YOU chose this topic, in paragraph form.

We did a video about a person passing away. After loved ones found out thuy did a balloon release. The balloons later on ended up in the ocean. A turtle found it thinking it was food but ended up passing away from eating the balloon. I choose this topic because it’s important that we keep our water clean because everyone needs it.

What did you do well and what could you have done differently?

We did well with our lines. We could have shown different ways to prevent water pollution instead of saying it.

What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA?

Letting people know why polluting water is bad.

q3 reflection

What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth?

The Earth’s biodiversity and natural resources are super important because they provide many benefits for humanity. They provide essential ecological services, such as pollination and water purification, while also offering economic benefits through resources.

What human actions are associated with altering Earth’s natural systems?

Human activities have had a huge impact on Earth’s natural systems, precipitating environmental degradation and biodiversity loss. Deforestation for agricultural expansion, industrial and agricultural pollution, overexploitation of resources, and the emission of greenhouse gases

How can individuals, communities, and or nations live more sustainably?

Embracing sustainability requires a multifaceted approach at the human population and national levels. It necessitates conscientious consumption practices, advocating for conservation initiatives and protected areas, adopting sustainable agricultural techniques, environmental advocacy, policy reforms to prioritize sustainability, and fostering collaborative efforts to address environmental challenges.

How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability?

This project made me research a topic which gave me a better understanding as to what it is. I had to look at the pros and cons of different methods and benefits that come with this topic and I now understand why transportation isn’t sustainable.

What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why?

The information that surprised me the most was how easy it would be to come up with a sustainable way to keep transportation yet there haven’t been any major changes made by any officials.

How did you contribute to your group’s project? Provide specific examples. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project?

I contributed a lot to the group’s work, especially for the checkpoints. I did a lot of the research and I came up with the plan to use the solar panels and make a car brand. I also set up the slides.
