Natural Disasters and Earth System Research
A tsunami is a large wave that is caused by an earthquake coming down on land (the geosphere). A tsunami is always caused by earthquakes, but not all earthquakes cause a tsunami. Due to it being water, the hydrosphere gets effected since it goes against currents and the life in the water will get interrupted. The atmosphere can also be affected by the tsunami. The energy is so great that it travels to the highest point of the atmosphere to a place called the ionosphere. This causes a disturbance in the ozone which protects Earth’s surface from harmful rays. When it comes to the biosphere, many people can lose their homes, cars, and their due to the distribution.
When a tsunami is coming, try and get to high ground or inland. Many coastal areas grow mangroves to try and protect the land the city from the waves that are to come. Also, if you are in an area where tsunami occurs, make sure you keep extra water extra food.
Tsunami to me is very scary, the amount of water the comes into the land is so destructive. The waves are not as high as our poster depicts, but there is still so much water that it will knock down anything its way.
