For my senior capstone I worked with Tajanae Smith and Samihah Maven in assist to Ms. Houwen. We helped put together the entire junior prom. This includes making the venue, finding the location of the prom, picking a theme, gathering decorations, creating the student’s tickets, etc. The process was not easy but it all turned out well in the end. I arrived at Science Leadership Academy during my junior year of high school, I knew not one single thing about a capstone so I had no idea of what I’d do during my senior year.
Thankfully Tajanae asked if I’d be willing to partner up with her and Samihah for the capstone. Initially I thought it was a great idea and it would be something fun to see come to life. I then realized, throughout the process that it was not as fun as I thought it would be, whereas it took a lot of time and work. The juniors prom date is May 18th, that being today. Due to the grace of god everything came through successfully causing me to be very much pleased with the outcome of my senior capstone.
I learned a lot from the process alone, when creating a big of event as prom you have to be really “hands on” with everything you do in order ensure that the people attending the event have a good time. You need to be responsible, have the skills of leadership, communication, organization, etc.  I’m proud of the outcome.

Reflection: The Earth System is made up of multiple systems including the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, & cryosphere. These systems all have an effect on natural disasters, they have a huge influence on them. It was beneficial learning about the earth's systems and the effects they have on natural disasters. I learned how as well as why natural disasters occur and I think everyone should do research on the earth systems and natural disasters, especially those who live in areas mostly effected by them. It's great to be educated about the topic.
