Media Team; Q4 Benchmark

Posted by Douggreco Askew in Biochemistry 2 · Aziz · B on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 11:21 pm
For Biochemistry's Q4 benchmark I was assigned to be apart of the media team which was responsible for creating a magazine and well informed instruction manual for the aquaponic system. My role in the group, alongside Angel's was directing manager. We were responsible for an abundance of the written and visual appearance of our benchmark and much of the final product you will view. Angel and I collaborated together to make the magazine and I created the instruction manual with influence from Angel. Overall, from the benchmark I learned the harmful effects of mass production and how it has impacted our environment and prompted a surge of methods and inventions. With the intent to find a renewable, Eco-friendly energy source that is more reliable and sustainable then some of the current, which has in turn prompted our development of this system.

This study guide was created for students by students to aid the process of studying for the upcoming Biochemistry Keystone (1/15). This website will hopefully make the long and hard process of studying easier for everyone by providing easy access to information you will need to do so.

One Point Perspective Drawing

The person living in the room is a young man who enjoys a secluded lifestyle, is a little messy but is an organized mess to him. He enjoys playing games on both his phone and PlayStation 4, sleeping and watching different series on his TV and laptop. The room has a bed along the right wall, a TV along the back wall, a desk on his left wall in front of a window, a floor with bottles and clothes on it, a door in the left corner by the TV and a closet in the right corner by the TV. The rooms appearance is a  reflection of his unwillingness to let go of items that he acquired from important people to him but his laziness prohibits him from displaying them in a proper neat manner and correctly paying homage to those respective figures, so he prefers to be alone surrounded by the things he loves most and spends most of his time with those possessions and avoids interaction with others. The personal items of mine included in the room shall be a PlayStation 4, laptop, my phone and book-bag. Some textures included in the drawing are a diamond tile pattern along the ceiling, a wooden floor within the closet, and fluffy clouds outside the window. That is a basic overview of my drawing and its inhabitant.

Internet Survival Guide

  1. ,An explanation of how the Internet has changed communication. Make sure to use at least one specific example.

The internet has changed communication in many ways, for example you can instantly send a message, or even start a conversation over something you posted.

  1. Define Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control as they pertain to the Internet and explain how Immediacy, Permanence and Lack of Control affect both our offline and our online identities and lives. Include at least one example for each.

Immediacy- Being able to send or post something and have it uploaded almost immediately, Immediacy affects our online identities in ways such

Permanence- The lasting remains of a post that remain on the internet even after it’s been deleted, this affects our online and offline identities because people online and offline could judge you for an irrationally posted subject like in the case of Kenneth Cole’s insensitive Cairo post.

Lack of control- Not being able to fully control what is done with something you post like when a celebrity post something and others repost what they did immediately and the their post could be taken out of context.

  1. What are two ways that you can actively manage and protect your identity and your reputation online? (one of each)

Two ways you can actively manage and protect your identity and reputation online are by not sharing secret information that is considered private and do not post private/harmful things you consider to be of your secretive life.

  1. Answer the question: “Does the Internet have rules?” Use at least one specific example.

No I do not believe that the internet has rules because it's more like the sites on the internet have rules, the rules of the sites you go on aren’t the same as one another/universal, so it’s like the internet is a blank sheet that can have parts of it modified for certain things but remain a blank sheet.

  1. Define cyberbullying in your own words.

Cyberbullying is when someone is threatened, harassed and/or targeted by someone else a device that allows them to use the Internet.

  1. Describe at least 2 kinds of cyberbullying and why they are considered cyberbullying

Two kinds of cyber bullying are harassment & stalking, harassment is repeatedly sending malicious messages to someone directly online, stalking is the continued following and watching over someone with eerie intent.

  1. Provide advice for: victims, bullies and bystanders of cyberbullying

If you are a victim of cyberbullying report your incident to an authority, if you are the one who is bullying I’d best advise that you terminate your actions immediately before things get out of hand or consequences will be bestowed upon you, If you are a bystander you should also report the incident in support of the victim.

  1. Your Top 5 tips for using the Internet

-Dont discriminate

-Do help report unjust actions made by others

-Don’t accept everybody/unknown people’s friend request

-Do ignore unflattering/ignorant text made by others.

-Don’t reveal personal information to strangers

Learn-Lead-Create

Creativity while learning means to look at a multitude of things from perspective. One way in which I think creativity while learning should look is someone while first grasping a subject being able to put a piece of themselves or own thoughts and ideas into something they create based around the newly grasped subject. Another way I view creativity while learning is having fun with a concept that is introduced to a person with their take and way of thinking imprinted into them. To me creativity while learning means to take a style or another thing and apply what you think should be implemented into that style and making it a part of your own skillset and arsenal.

Be Concious, Think Before You Post

Posted by Douggreco Askew in Technology- Freshmen · Hertz · e1 on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 8:14 pm
In the article "Kenneth Cole's #Cario Tweet Angers the Internet" it entails the story of an insensitive and innapropriate text posted by Kenneth Cole about the protest occurring in Egypt at the time. The tweet posted states "Millions are in uproar in #Cairo. Rumor is they heard our new spring collection is now available at http://bit.ly/KCairo -KC". This tweet was not found as humorous or accepted by the community. The tweet takes lightly of Egypt's situation at the time and uses their suffering in a comical way in an attempt to sell their merchandise and self-promote. This tweet produced a negative feeback toward Kenneth Cole putting him in an unsightly view and causing a multitude of hate from a variety of communities and people within those communities. The fact that post can be uploaded to whatever intended site and be viewed immeadiatly which allows things to spread fast and vastly causing an eruption of hate to come about from the tweet. Also due to permanency of the internet the post will forever be available for people to view and remembered by those who have seen it. Thirdly due to lack of control the tweet could be shared and reposted making the complete deletion of it from the web nearly impossible to take down. Even though the tweet was later removed it doesn't erase peoples memories of the occurrance of the incident. If I were to give him advice about what to post on the internet in my opinion I'd tell him to rethink and revise what he is about to post especially when it is addresing a controversial topic. Also I'd advise him to have at least one other person opinionate and express their thoughts about the tweet. Those are my final thoughts on the topic "Kenneth Cole's #Cario Tweet Angers the Internet" and how immediacy, permanency and lack of control play a role in this story and some advice I'd give Kenneth Cole for future posting.
