 Poem #1
When you look at me

 When you look at me,
be sure to look twice
Although I come off as unapproachable,  I am really nice
Before you think you know me be sure to know what you're getting into
Who I am is different from who you think I am
be sure you know me before you go back to your friends
I am me, you are you, we are two different people get that through -
 Your head

Poem #2
Mistakes

When I was younger I cut my hair
When I was younger i thought having curly hair was unfair
A unfair curse that was could never be lifted
until I grabbed some scissors and got to snippin
By the time I was done cutting, I looked like a young boy who was ugly
I played myself and got my ass beat
Ever since then I appreciate my hair like a pet getting a treat
I will ever cut my hair again,
even when I start to think about it
My curly hair is apart of my identity.

Poem #3
Does it really matter what others think of me?

I have grown up to learn that it doesn't matter what those think of you
Whether you got it good or struggling to make it through
Another day, have it your way, or the highway
I have to tell myself it doesn't matter what others think
It matters what I say
I am the one looking in the mirror everyday and see the reflection
all that matter is i'm happy with myself, including my imperfections

Electric Flower” artist statement :

During this project I knew I wanted my work to be bright, to tell a story without including words.

I purposely had many things going on with my creation because I didn't want the viewer to just focus on one thing but everything at once. Doing this project, I achieved how to add line, texture and drawing into one picture. My current work relates to past work more in a better way because I improved, I stayed more focused on having a neat project and making sure my work was meeting the expectations. I simply was just going to have the colorful flower picture but I wanted to go outside the box and add a dramatic background including texture with the bold dots I created. I also did not want my work to be dull so I used multiple colored markers to incorporate my theme of the " Electric Flower”. This project does not affect the world I live in but It does reflect who I am as a person..  Bright, variety of, out of order but put together at the same time. Its unique in its own way. Lastly a new technique I learned to do is to create my own frame for  a picture by just using  a ruler, scissors and some tape. This project has helped me express myself through colors, lines, texture and drawings.

Moon and Stars

For this project, I decided to re-create the linoleum outline. I had the outer of my picture all white and then traced for the rest to be covered with black ink. I used stars and the moon because to me they are very peaceful and have a bigger meaning to me than just a moon and stars. Although this project was fun doing I can say it was hard. I had trial and error a few times until I was satisfied with what my results were.

From beginning to end, this project has really made an impact on me and the way I view art. The most complicated part was actually carving out my picture, I had gotten a cut from the way I was doing it the first time but I got some help from a peer and got right back on track. Transferring the ink and getting it how I wanted it was quit easy and fun although It took a couple tries.  What I greatly enjoyed was rolling the ink onto my canvas, it was fun and a unique way to show the art that I had made. If there is something that I would change about the project it would be the way I used my time, your work really reflects on effort and I feel like you can see that with my project. If I could go back I would use my time more easily and get advice from more advanced people to make sure my project has a chance at meeting expectations.

The reason why I choose to this project in particular is because the uniqueness of the way it had to be put together is what caught my eye.

Color wheel project

Posted by Raynaline Torres in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 11:48 am

Creating this project, I knew my choices and variety of creativity had not limits. Although, I was inspired by the original color wheel, I liked the plane feel of it so my colors could stick out. To give my project my  name I wanted to add some originality to it by adding a solid black background and white splattered paint.. This gave my project an edgy feel.  While working, my routine/technique was to do the primary colors first then work on secondary colors because I knew since I had such a small space for painting I was bound to mess up.

What I learned is to not rush with not only my colors but my outlining with the sharpie.. I feel as though my outlining was quite sloppy and if I could give advice is to do the outlining after you paint your work. When looking at my work I think my peers will see something slightly different and maybe even pretty nice.. If my peers were to give me feedback, I know for a fact that their input would be that my outlining is sloppy, which I agree. Overall doing this project was not only fun but different. I enjoyed creating the colors and using my own perspective of what colors are.

A Princess Gets What She Wants

Posted by Raynaline Torres in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 7:59 pm
My picture was based of me being  a "princess". I was always told that I am spoiled and I always get what I want. my picture relates to the decor that I have such as the closet with the colorful clothes or the girly colored bed and rug. I had little furniture meaning I wanted to have detail in the things I had such as the flooring in my room. The six word memoir " a princess gets what she wants" is based off of my room.

The Meaning Behind The Street Art

Posted by Raynaline Torres in ART 9 - Hertz - a2 on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 10:02 am
The inspiration an meaning behind my work is very simple. I wanted something bright , happy because usually people that don't speak their mind are sad or don t have the confidence to speak in which they believe in. The mind is where creativity and personality comes from so I want that to be shown in a picture.

Choosing the place I chose was easy I simply thought about the class that makes me think the most(Spanish) and put it on the outside door. I put it on the door for every time I get ready to go to that class I can be motivated to get through the class.

Doing this project doesn't really change my prospective on art I always had an eye for art but now I can look at things on the street that is created by someone and say that it is art because it's meaningful to someone.

The Internet In you

Slide 2 : The pictures that i post are always different, everyone will always have a different perspective on how they look at me.

Slide 3 : Choices that people make online will reflect on how he or she look no matter what they are posting.

Number one rule : On the phone is where a lot of social media drama happens , my rule is to stay true to who you are on social media.

social media guide

Posted by Raynaline Torres in TECH 1 - Hertz - a1 on Sunday, November 22, 2015 at 6:14 pm

When I am online I am the same person as I would be in “real life”. I am the same funny , pretty and  nice person as I would be in real life. I log on my social media and i post and appear as myself , as people call it today i am not a “Catfish”

I think I am perceived as someone that is really pretty and nice based on what they comment and say.

Before I ever post anything online i consider what my mother would think if she sees it. If i'm posting a picture I make sure i'm not showing too much skin and who is in

There are many pros and cons of sharing online but I feel like comedy is the best one. A pro would be sharing a simple funny picture to make your followers or friends laugh but a con is if someone shares a personal photo that wasn't meant for sharing it can get out of hand.

Free speech is giving a peaceful way of speaking your mind and being able to say what you want without being disrespectful also what is not protected is when you freely speak but with violence and disrespect

Tips are to always be honest and not give out personal information.
