Olasubomi Okin Capstone
Together with Saif and Brandon, we executed a Capstone Project to establish a music production program tailored for high school students. This project was designed to equip the students with the necessary skills to either venture into music industry careers or broaden their musical interests. Our initial plan to teach music theory was recalibrated as we found our participants were already versed in it. Thus, we moved directly to practical applications on a Digital Audio Workstation, FL Studio. The curriculum also exposed the students to various music genres through special sessions with guest producers. In the face of challenges like equipment breakdowns and time constraints, our team maintained steady progress through effective communication and adaptable scheduling. As the Capstone Project draws to a close, we’ve recorded a song and are presently filming a video for its presentation. This experience has bestowed us with invaluable competencies such as project management, efficient communication, and problem-solving. The project’s successful realization, in spite of significant plan alterations, demonstrates our team’s adaptability and the potential for continued growth in music production.
