If something happens in one system then it can effect or even change to another one. So all the systems are in line with each other 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? It could help us prepare better for the events because the more you know the more you can prepare for the worst. 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Go green!!!!! In my opinion that's the best thing we can do. We need to recycle more use ELECTRIC TRANSPORTATION use less gas and eat more plant based diets to help sustain the animal population.

  1. How do earth systems affect each other? Earth’s systems affect each other by connecting. If one system would stop in some way the other systems would have to change as well.

  2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? This can help out because we would know the science behind these natural disasters, and figure out how to stop these inevitable problems.

  3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Fix the bad habits that we are too used to. Learn how to use environmentally safe products

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1B-_gQ04KuhsahohNwGE1uYvx4_etHsdB7DV397ghMf0/edit?usp=sharing Each of the earth systems interact with each other at all times. The earth systems affect each other so much that a change in one sphere will more than likely results in a change in one or more of the other earth systems. They work together to determine the climate and affect life on earth. Efforts we can use to create a more sustainable earth is to use more sustainable materials and create more sustainable business that use sustainable materials. In this project, we're trying to formulate a more sustainable way for transportation and hopefully extend the life of out planet.

  1. How do earth systems affect each other? Earth systems affect each other because they work together like a huge cycle. When one system changes, it can affect the other system. For example, the material to make a car is mined from the ground and affect the geosphere/biosphere. The co2 release from cars affects the atmosphere.
  2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? If we can understand the causes of natural disasters, we can figure out ways to prevent or decrease the chance of it happening again.

  3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? We can use sustainable material and thing to reduces the harmful effect on the environment

Slides: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Z7p9zUhUQMGAxIyhybRMih5e3yU1-8hQuK0PlGovGkI/edit?usp=sharing. In our project, When we create our fabulous fabric, we only barely impact the biosphere. We only really use wool to make cotton-based clothing. We use cotton to make all types of things. From denim jeans to comfy socks. We don’t believe in destroying the planet like the other companies. Our eco-footprints don’t really leave a big impact. When we take materials from nature we usually replace it. We have a farm of our own where we grow plants and raise sheep of our own.

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1Z7p9zUhUQMGAxIyhybRMih5e3yU1-8hQuK0PlGovGkI/edit?usp=sharing The Earth systems affect our environment by collaborating with one another so they remain in a balanced state. Since our project relates to this topic. we ensured that our clothing company allowed for a more healthy way of gathering our fabric. We'll attempt to get from certain animals that have more production value and affect less of the environment. Also, we'll try to making the clothing industry promote more to make everyone aware of how much clothing production really affects our environment. In this project, we create sustainable future for the clothing industry as a whole by ensuring that the practices we use reach out to as many people as possible.

They work together to determine the climate and affect life on earth 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? An understanding of environmental science can help in handling natural disasters because we actually have background knowledge on these disasters and we know what to do in the case of a natural disaster. Although we are not able to stop almost all of the natural disasters, we are able to slow them down or reduce the damage 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Some efforts that we can make to create a sustainable future is recycle, reduce water waste, join different groups that help clean up the community, and more! https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1r3hJJQjFqHBmS539POvoxJlUU32bY94LPuh-0fmhtGc/edit?usp=sharing

L.A. Wildfires: Group 7 (Y band)

Posted by Tyaysha Hill in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · Y s1 on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 11:09 pm

The earth systems can be affected by a forest fire in good and bad ways. For instance, a forest fire can affect the geosphere by the ash and the heat from the fire creating good growing soil. The atmosphere can be affected by the forest fire ash and debris that can rise into the sky and block sunlight. A forest fire can affect the biosphere by less oxygen in the air that would make it hard for humans to breath which affects the climate. Lastly, a forest fire can affect the hydrosphere by the debris and soot that can be carried in the atmosphere and dropped into a nearby body of water which can pollute and affect the aquatic life. Understanding environmental science aid in handling natural disasters can help you prepare for natural disasters that might occur. Understanding how they can start and understand how it can affect the different earth systems can be beneficial to everyone. It’s important to know how to safely deal with a natural disaster and how they can affect you afterward. Efforts that we can make to create a sustainable future would be to stop burning things, stop burning cigarettes and stop building houses in places that are easy to catch flame. It’s also important that we build stronger houses that would be tough to catch fire. It’s also better if we properly put out cigarettes instead of throwing them out on the streets. Reaction: After doing research about Los Angeles wildfires, I was able to take note of certain things that could help me in the future. For example, I took note of how to get out of a wildfire safely and how wildfires can affect the atmosphere for the worse and how it can affect the geosphere for the better. While reading different articles, I wasn't too shocked to see that some wildfires are caused by human carelessness. https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1qBePw4afvVYLoREvswwKc1lLCd1Xz75WLhxQvzrtkAg/edit?usp=sharing

Droughts

Posted by Darius Smith in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · Y s1 on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 4:04 pm

Droughts can occur due to either natural or human-induced factors. Droughts aren’t a type of natural disaster that is physically destructive. This kind of disaster does more economical damage than anything. Environmental things like climate change, ocean temperatures, changes in the jet stream, and changes in the local landscape all make a difference when it comes to droughts. Droughts can be very dangerous for people living in areas with not enough food or water. Droughts are the type of disaster that involves below-average precipitation and water supply shortage over long periods of time. Droughts often lead to the extreme scarcity of food and have led to the death of millions of people. The reason why lower levels of precipitation aid the occurrence of drought is because little to no rain means that the soil will dry out and that will eventually lead to crop failure. When crops fail, there isn't enough food to go around. It also means that farmers lose money, and the area can become very poor. When a region is very poor and doesn't have enough food or water, arguments can happen over who should be able to access the goods, which can escalate into wars. Identify ways in which humans have altered and continue to alter our environment. For decades and still to this day human have been creating cars and running factories that do nothing to our environment but destroy. We cut trees down not realizing their worth and the globe is heating up. Now we are closer to the end then we ever have been and it need to come to an end. Define sustainability and explain how it can be measured using the ecological footprint. Sustainability is basically being able to avoid depletion of the planet. It can measures by the impact of a person or community on the environment, expressed as the amount of land required to sustain their use of natural resources. Define systems within the context of environmental science. The atmosphere is the system that houses cloud and oxygen. All precipitation comes from the atmosphere. The biosphere is the system where all life is and oxygen is produced. Plant life also absorbs c02 The geo sphere is basically the mountainous area The hydrosphere is the system that is basically bodies of water. Earthquakes tend to happen in this system which end up causing tsunamis Distinguish between various forms of energy and discuss the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics. The first law says that energy can be neither created or destroyed in an isolated area. The second law says that energy in an isolated area increases. Describe the ways in which ecological systems depend on energy inputs. The biosphere needs rain from atmosphere to keep life alive. The atmosphere needs the biosphere for oxygen production. The atmosphere needs the hydrosphere for evaporation of water. The biosphere needs to geosphere to create new land. Explain how scientists keep track of inputs, outputs, and changes to complex systems. Scientist in this day have satellites and all kinds of technology that allows to predict any kind of change in our systems. They are always keeping an eyes on it and most of the time they know what will happen before it happens. Describe how natural systems change over time and space. Over time humans just will continue to destroy the environment so it will only get worse. Since the ozone is depleting, it just allows more radiation from the sun and more natural disaster to occur. When I Did research on the information that I found to answer my essential questions, I wasn’t surprised at all. With all this climate change stuff going around, it’s kinda hard to not be informed on everything that is going on in our planet. I still do however believe that their is something we could do about climate change but there isn’t enough people who care to make the difference.

1.How do earth systems affect each other? The earth has 4 subsystems. these systems because they interact with eachother 2. How can an understanding of environmental science aid in handling natural disasters? it can help understand why its happening, and safety measure how its happening 3. What efforts can we make to create a sustainable future? Reduce household energy use. Energy conservation is itself a source of energy.Dispose with disposables.
