Environmental Mini PSA

Posted by Symaira Whitfield-Pittman in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at 11:19 pm

My PSA would be about food justices. Food justice is basically communities exercising their right to grow, sell, and eat healthy food. industrial agriculture as its foundation does not protect the environment, does not protect human health, and doesn’t produce enough nutritious food or distribute it equitably. I didn’t make any video but here’s a video that I found on YouTube. https://youtu.be/xA6p0w2Xoqg

Enviormental Mini PSA By Gabriel Sanchez

Provide a summary of the contents of your video and a rationale for why YOU chose this topic, in paragraph form. My videos talks about some reasons there is excessive heat in homes especially in the summer with focus being on hunting park. What did you do well and what could you have done differently? I think I've done a lot well except for the video which I'm very bad at putting together. What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA? Learning about my comutniies.

Food Insecurity

Posted by Kyree Jones in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:53 pm

My video discusses food insecurity here in Philly. I chose this topic because it’s a major problem here in Philadelphia and I believe that it’s not talked about enough. More people should be aware of how inaccessible healthy foods are to people here in this city. I provided good information in my video. If I could do something differently I’d add more to the video. The most meaningful experience of creating this PSA was learning about food insecurity here in Philly. Kellner, H. (2019, September 11). Report shows a majority of city food stores sell mostly unhealthy foods: Department of Public Health. PSA... IT'S HOT

Posted by Carlos Pimenta in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 11:14 pm

I chose to do my PSA on heat islands. I chose this topic because I personally had to go through this when I first moved to Philadelphia. It was extremely uncomfortable, even at school, and I wanted to spread awareness on this topic. I feel like I speak passionately about this issue. Though, I did have one issue. I felt very constrained with the amount of information I could include within the time frame I was given. The most important part of the video is towards the end when I talk about the very simple and impactful solutions to this issue.

Water Pollution PSA

Posted by Mikaila Dennis in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:36 pm

Water pollution is slowly speeding up and becoming a huge problem for all communities worldwide. The more polluted water the sooner sea life will die out and people will soon have no clean water to use for necessities. I picked water pollution because I don't understand how people are taking something as big as water for granted. With my project, I could've included more visuals, I could've been more confident in my recordings, and I could've posted my blog more on time. I also wanted to do a Powtoon but I didn't understand how to use it. I hope my PSA gives people at least some type of insight on what is going on in the world and how we are a main factor of why this is happening.

Lead Poisoning PSA by Kristen Sanchez

Posted by Kristen Sanchez in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:02 pm

I chose to make my PSA on lead poisoning. The reason I chose to do this topic is that I was intrigued when we first learned about it. It was fascinating to see how much of Philadelphia is suffering because of housing inequity and how little the city is doing to avoid it. I also chose to do this because I know someone personally who has suffered from lead exposure and is now seeing consequences because of it. This is probably what was most meaningful. Educating myself on this topic so that I understand the circumstances they are in. They are a prime example of housing inequity due to Philadelphia's high rent and low-paying jobs. If I were to do this again, I would change some things. The biggest thing I would change is feeling more confident about what I am saying, as well as maybe going more in-depth. Tik Tok only allows for a maximum of 60-second videos therefore, it's difficult to fit so much into it. But I had a lot of fun making this and want to continue studying this topic!

Water Pollution

Posted by Kairi Brown in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 9:11 pm

I chose to base my psa video on water pollution because I feel that water is one the biggest things that human take advantage of. We use it for hydration, cleaning, bathing and much much more. However, how we treat water doesn't positively compare to how much water provides for us. With that being said this psa was meant to raise awareness and take action on this issue.

Excessive Heat in Homes During Summer

Posted by Alaina Tomlinson in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 6:05 pm

I chose to do a PSA video about the excessive heat in homes during the summer because it is always way too hot during the summer. I wanted to research more about the reason behind the heat other than what we learned in class.

Plastic Pollution

Posted by Alaysha Griffin in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 12:54 am

I chose Plastic Pollution because I wanted to learn more about the effects and impact it has on our environment. There are things I could be doing to further the accumulation of plastic pollution that I am unaware of , and so are others. This video addresses how it effects our wildlife, how they are getting killed each year because of ingesting plastic or getting entangled in it. It also talks about the causes of Plastic pollution and some top solutions.

Water pollution in schools

Posted by Madison Thigpen in Environmental Science · Sasso · 3b on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 6:05 am

In my post, I was commenting about the crisis, regarding lead in the pipes around Philadelphia schools. Additionally, over 57% of schools has a ppd of 50, rather than the recommended a month which is 20 ppd from EPA. Subsequently, through this process, I would like to think I have done well in providing the right information regarding my PSA. It was short, but I tried to keep it a bit interesting. But if I had to do this a second time, I would have chosen a different topic, like air, food deserts etc. It was difficult finding relevant information or stars that report of the quilts of after in Philadelphia. But after some brain storming*, I decided to talk about how bad the contamination of drinking water would get really bad. One the other hand , the most meaning full thing about doing this was looking who fortunate is am to have access to clean water in my school. Lastly, I chose this topic because I thought is was really important to spread awareness about water pollination in schools. .
