Je'dah and Cierra's Environmental Science PSA

Posted by Cierra Cain in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:42 pm

Our PSA is about Food Scarcity and Food Injustices. This was a topic that interested us both due to the fact that we both live in neighborhoods that don’t have immediate access to healthy food options. We feel like creating a PSA on this topic will bring light to the importance of having healthy food options in or a least close to neighborhoods that need it.

Environmental Justice PSA

Posted by Myleah Hickman in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 11:01 pm

Our PSA was about plastic pollution. We thought this was a good topic because of how serious the problem is. I think it’s also good to tell people what is happening around them to be more conscious of their actions and make changes. If I could change something about our PSA it would be to make it with clips and videos instead of me just talking.

Plastic Pollution

Posted by Joshua Henderson-Long in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 10:37 pm

In our video, we briefly discussed plastic pollution, what it is, its cause, and potential solutions along with things that have already been done. This topic was one that we believe needed more representation outside of what is normally shown involving recycling while most people are unaware of what happens after your trash is allegedly recycled. The concept of our PSA was done well it served as a way for us to get our message across and to create something that would have the potential to be shown nationally as a true PSA through an Instagram story. Something that could’ve been done better was potentially referencing the exact ways that people have tried to remove the ocean from the waters. I would say the most meaningful for me was coming up wth the idea of how we were going to do our PSA.

Excessive Heat PSA

Posted by Melani Merejo-Medina in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 12:13 am

we chose the topic of excessive heat because this is a situation that's been happening for a long time and not a lot is being done about it and we wanted to bring awareness to it using tik tok, an app where 95% of our generation spend their time watching videos. Our tik tok video was set outside and we were kids playing tag, we later find out that some of our friends don't have ACs and we wanted to help fix that. After researching, we came up with ideas about fundraising for ACs and community gardens to help regulate the heat. The most meaningful part of this project for me was recording the video with my group, it's the last couple weeks of senior year and this is our last benchmark and now I have a memory of us recording the video and having a fun time doing it.

Excessive Heat

We made a video that identifies excessive heat as a big and important issue. We chose this topic because it is a very significant issue being as though it affects the environment and so many people that live in it. ur video showcases the comparison, and everyday lives of those who live in an area with plenty of green spaces, and those who don’t. The video gives information on how this affects the planet’s carbon cycle, and what we can do to help fix this. Overall, we were trying to relay a message that encourages people to come together and stand up for things that are not looked at. I think that the way we hose to relay our message was very creative and just to make it a little better we probably should have managed our time with ding this so that it could be more detailed. I think the most meaningful part was the fact that we were actually bringing awareness.

Water Pollution PSA

Posted by Terrell Smith in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:30 pm

We chose the topic of water pollution because it is an issue that has been happening for a while now. It’s important we know what the issue is and how we fix it because it’s a source we need regularly. The contents of our video include the format of an ad in the beginning that most people would skip. As you continue to watch the video you’re able to learn a lot of useful and important facts about water pollution. You will also be able to learn how to reduce water pollution by the end of the video.

What did you do well and what could you have done differently? Something I think I did well was getting the appropriate information and the right amount in the video. Meaning it’s not too little information or not enough. Something I could have done differently was explained some of the examples of sources of water pollution more.

What was the most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA? The most meaningful part of the experience of creating the PSA was making sure the facts were coherent and correct so people could actually learn about this issue. Then at the end of the video people being able to learn how to help reduce this pollution is really important.

Water Pollution PSA

Posted by Matthew Winarto in Environmental Science · Sasso · E on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:24 pm

My group and I talked about how communities of low income go through different types of illness because of where they live due to water pollution. Inadequate funding and resources and industry pollutants caused the water that is used for drinking to be heavily polluted. We describe the causes of water pollution along with how/what we can do to reduce water pollution providing cleaner water for those that need it. In the back of my mind I’ve always known that water pollution is a thing and that it could possibly cause damage to people drinking it and I never really thought that it would really affect people in America. Well I was obviously wrong. I’ve been able to have clean accessible water whenever I need/want it and not everyone could say the same. I personally could have done a little more research even though I thought our research was adequate. Maybe we could have asked around.

PSA

We chose this topic because water pollution is negatively impacting low-income communities and destroying the world. I think we should have started a bit earlier to plan for the video to do differently next time. The most meaningful experience of the PSA was realizing that people skip ads no matter what it is.

Water pollution PSA

We chose this topic because water pollution is a major thing in our world and has been affecting us for our whole life. Our video basically plays two parts, the beginning is like an ad on YouTube that people tend to skip because it has nothing to do with them. The rest of the video hits you with hard facts and reasons that water pollution can be reduced and places with them can come back if enough people is involved.

PSA

In our video, we talked about how communities of low income go through a lot of heat exhaustion. We are trying to show that there are resources for this issue. I actually know about a lot of people I know whose parents aren’t able to afford AC which is baffling because I am so privileged to be able to have that. I think I did well in the acting part. That was definitely my favorite part also. I felt like I could improve on the research portion. I felt like I could’ve gotten more information and maybe added it to the video. The most meaningful part was recording with my group. It felt like we were so passionate so it was less scripted.
