Amber's Q3 Benchmark Reflection

Posted by Amber Thompson in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · C on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:41 pm

Nature’s variety and stuff like clean air, water, and plants are really important. They help us live well, grow food, control weather, and keep things balanced for life on Earth. So when people cut down forests, catch too many fish, cause pollution, build cities, and mess with the climate, it messes up nature. Animals and plants suffer, and things stop working as they work in ways that don’t wreck the. So to help nature, we should save energy and water, use clean energy like wind and sun, farm in ways that don’t wreck the land, and protect forests and other natural spots from their natural resources from being taken too much.

This project helped me understand sustainability better because it made me think more about whether I’m choosing the safest and healthiest cleaning options. I was amazed by how few natural cleaning liquids there are that don’t use chemicals, I thought there were more options to choose from. Overall, I think I did well in helping my group write down the plan for our project and help brainstorm on what we wanted to do.

The Cleaning Industry

Posted by Aaliya Shoatz in Environmental Science · Sasso-Chryst · C on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:15 pm

Hi! My group and I created our own sustainable, eco-friendly cleaning business this week. Below are the slides, and physical model of our project.

The Biodiversity and Natural resources of the Earth cause us to value sustainable resources that support all forms of life. Human actions such as deforestation, pollution, and overfishing are associated with altering Earth’s natural systems. Communities, individuals, and nations could live more sustainably by adopting practices that create a more sustainable and eco-friendly environment like reducing waste, saving energy, and using renewable resources. Doing this project allowed me to understand how human activities or supplies like cleaning sprays affected the health of our environment. The most surprising thing I learned about this was how high the typical ecological footprint of this industry was. I didn’t expect it to be so high, but it was reassuring to know that the ecological footprint isn’t that high for every business within the cleaning industry. I contributed a lot to this project, as in time, energy, and productivity. I made our physical model and constructed the slides. Overall, I am proud of my group for collaborating and presenting our project without nervousness.

Unit Essential Questions: }In biodiversity and natural resources we can provide essential ecosystem services such as clean air, water and food and some climate and creation regulations that can contribute to human well-being and economic prosperity. }I believe human associations with alteration of natural systems may include land, deforestation, burning of fossil fuels, and industrial activities that are now more prevalent. }Individuals can live in communities by reducing energy consumption and promoting recycling and supporting local food sources as they can conserve water and invest in renewable energy and participate in sustainable transportation for natural life.

Reflection Questions: }In this project I was able to deepen sustainability since clothing is something so basic, but the importance that can be done to recycle and not continue damaging the environment like clothing since many things can be done to continue recycling. . In our group we were able to exercise more purpose to be able to know what is the positive and negative impact that clothing can bring to sustainability, I am proud to be able to know some of the impacts that this can have, which can be global carbon emissions and pollution. rivers of clothes they throw.

What value do we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth? Biodiversity has an indispensable value independent of the needs of human beings since it is practically the source of life.

What human actions are associated with altering earth’s natural systems? I think that in general there are many starting with these: Drink water from a plastic bottle, since the bottle is normally thrown away. Throw a piece of gum on the ground, because it is a mass that is contaminated and may never be collected. Wash ourselves without turning off the tap, because of the waste of water.

How can individuals, communities and or nations live more sustainably? I think it would be a better and more sustainable world if people dedicated a little of their time to keeping public areas cleaner and recycling everything that has a second use.

Reflection Questions:

How did this project deepen your understanding of sustainability? I deepen it because it makes me see once again how important cleanliness is worldwide and how much better we would live clinging to recycling and economising.

What information about your chosen industry surprised you most? Why? I was very surprised by Pros and Cons of the Cleaning Industry, because it talks about the use we currently have and what can be better.

How did you contribute to your group’s project? Provide specific examples. What were you proud of, in terms of your overall project? The truth is that in my group we divide equal parts of the work, so I could say that I am very proud of my team and the topic they chose since I think it is very good.

Benchmark Reflection Assignment

The value that we see in the biodiversity and natural resources of the earth is healthy ecosystems that help maintain the earth’s natural processes. Burning fossil fuels, cutting down forests and farming livestock alter the earth’s natural systems. We can live more sustainably spending time outside, recycling, and behaving in a friendly way for the environment.

This project deepened my understanding of sustainability because I learned that my industry was sustainable and the different benefits and trade-offs that come with my industry. What surprised me about my industry was the different types of transportation that would make the environment better and it was pretty cool. I contributed by putting information on the slides, talking about different ideas that my group came up with, and speaking when it was time to present. I am proud of that we got this project over with and I learned something new about other people’s industries as well.

The value of biodiversity is that it helps maintain our ecosystem and keeps Earth’s natural natural processes. Some things humans do disrupt the Earth’s natural systems are smoking, driving, deforestation because they throw the Earth’s natural systems out of wack. Humans as a whole can be more sustainable by using more natural resources and also limiting certain things they do such as overfishing and illegal poaching.

This project has helped deepen my understanding of sustainability because it made me think deeper about the resources that were being used in each everyday product. Nothing really surprised me because I know a good bit about the cleaning industry but something I didn’t know about was something called allergens which turned out to be stuff we eat on a daily basis such as eggs, wheat, peanuts etc. I did contribute a lot to our project because I feel like I found really good resources and also came up with some good ideas with how we should represent it as well.

Ahzra Blackwell Q3 Benchmark Reflection

Without Biodiversity and natural resources of the Earth, it would be harder for biotic factors/living organisms to survive. Some human actions associated with altering Earth’s natural systems are burning fossil fuels and deforestation. Individuals, communities, and or nations can live more sustainably by lowering their eco-footprint by using less water, less transportation, reusing clothes, recycling, replacing single-use products like plastic, etc.

This project deepened my understanding of sustainability because it made me think and research more about sustainability in the food industry. This project allowed me to think about the food industry and how to make it more sustainable such as it being healthier and more easily accessible. The project also made me realize that sustainabilty will make a better environment and make the world better however it can take long due to how much we need to work in order to make industries more sustainable. For my industry, I was mostly surprised about the eco-footprint being 13.7 billion metric tons because I didn’t expect the number to be that big even though I expected it to be a lot. I contributed to my project by helping in all of the checkpoints, collabortaing with my group to brainstorm ideas (the names of the company and restaurant, the actual restaurant and fishery, plus the blueprint/layout), working on the slideshow, and assisting with the physical model as well. To end my reflection I am proud of how well everything came together especially because my group and I were stressing about not finishing in time.

Earth’s systems affect each other because weather develops in this subsystem, the atmosphere engages in interactions with the other spheres. The hydrosphere is affected by weather because storms bring rain and higher ocean tides. The hydrosphere water shapes the topography, which in turn affects the geosphere.Studying natural hazards helps us comprehend their operation and the dangers they present. The likelihood of upcoming occurrences as well as their frequency, magnitudes, and anticipated impacts. Therefore, having a thorough understanding of the various types of natural disasters and the disaster management strategies can help people deal with such situations more effectively. Since it is impossible to prevent natural disasters from happening, finding ways to lessen their negative effects is crucial. To predict and monitor potential disasters, as well as to develop strategies for responding to and mitigating the impacts of disasters.
