Anthony & Jame Capstone

Posted by Anthony Bowden in Capstone on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 10:32 pm
Since we are the first class to graduate we thought it would nice to honor, and show appreciation to our senior class. We started this school all of the hard work that we put in made this school into what it is now.  My partner Jame and I wanted  our capstone  to be  original, and different at the same time. Most importantly we wanted to display our creativity, that is why for our capstone we chose to build it. We did start our project later than we expected because we couldn’t come up with a design concept that we could stick with. While working on our capstone, we  spent most of our time working on this during our engineering class, and after school. Considering that we started  late we stayed after school longer, that way we could focus.  So our process for this project was simple, physically  making it was the hard part. This isn’t the first project that my partner, and I have worked on together, prior to this we both have experience. The first steps in building our capstone consisted of us building  a base. Wood was the best material to use as a sturdy base. So before we could cut or do anything else we had to take measurements first, because we wanted our  capstone to be a reasonable size, secondly because we needed all the pieces of the base to be proportional, and fit  evenly. Once all the pieces of the base were measured, then next step was to cut. Cutting was easy since we only had to make three cuts. Now that everything was cut we nailed all the pieces together.  The hardest part was next which was painting, because it was so time consuming. We coated our base  with  two layers of blue paint that way it would give it a smooth look, and feel. We had to pay very close attention to details because when we assembled our pieces we lined them up evenly that it would be straight. Once this was done we were pretty much finished for the  most part. We plan to have the all the seniors sign our piece that we can be remembered, and display our piece

While working on this project I didn't know what to expect. I had no clue how to garden, or even the many methods of gardening there are I thought it would be simple. But planting, and caring for a seed requires a lot of work more than I expected. Planting the seeds probably had to be the funniest part of this project. Even though  My seed hasn't shown no signs of life yet, but hopefully  it will grow soon.  My group mates, and classmates their plants have sprouted all over the place. So I think it's cool that not everybody is planting the same seeds, and that there is some variety. I can't wait to see the plants when they've grown even more. I think the tower garden itself is pretty cool too, because this is something we came together as a class to do that will not only affect us but our community, and environment as well. I hope we can continue this project, and expand even more why stop here. This is how we affect our environment in a positive way. Fresh vegetables, and foods  can lead to a  happy healthier life, and stop the issue of food insecurity. This helps me understand the actions we can take to make the world a better place, the earth is

Environmental Justice

My group's topic  was Oil Trains In Pennsylvania. This topic was completely brand new to me I had no clue oil trains were such a big problem that we are facing. I also found this topic interesting I wanted to know more. Derailment is a huge problem this can cause pollution, and even explosions. Not to mention people's rights are being taken away. These oil trains  are actually placed where many people live. We all share this space so it's very important that we all take a stand for each other! In our video you see how  we explained why this is a such a huge issue.

I'm not sure what role I played in my group. I was everywhere, I did a little of everything. I helped out wherever I could. My main focus was to make sure my group mates stayed on tasked and focused. I made sure we used our time effectively.

I believe I did a good job of staying on task. I believe I did a good job of keeping my group mates on task too. I was a excellent team player. I helped my group mates to the best of my ability. When it came down to it I made we finished. If it's one thing I could of improved on it would be communication making sure my group mates knew what was going on at all times. I would also have made more time to edit, so time manager was something I could of worked on as well.

The most meaningful part of this PSA is that my voice is being heard! I am raising awareness in the community. I feel like I am making a difference I am taking steps forwardin the directions I want to lead by example. If others see how much I care about the space we share hopefully this will get them to be active, and involved   to take steps forward in making earth a better place.

Standing With Standing Rock

Posted by Anthony Bowden in Environmental Science · Aziz · E on Monday, December 5, 2016 at 11:28 pm

Social Media is being used to spread awareness to others. Many people are voicing their opinions, and standing up for what they believe is right. Hashtags, and post have made to start movements, to get more people to fight against the cause. Also these hashtags, and post have made it to the news as well which is very important because more people are even aware now.

 Here are a few Hashtags

  . #WaterIsLife
     #NoDAPL
     #WaterProtectors

I believe these methods are very effective. A lot of people use social media it is one of the quickest ways we find out anything. Also this issue is trending as I speak so as it trends more, and more people are raising  awareness, and joining the movement.

Native Americans are protesting because of where these pipelines are being built. These pipelines run through their sacred lands. Standing is one example it is a Native American reservation.

Social Media plays a huge part in this because this is many people are voicing themselves. Social media allows many of these people to be heard. Raising awareness is crucial, this is how you get people to help fight for your cause. This is the earth we all share so this should be important to everybody not just Native Americans.

Ways we can improve our strategies are by finding more, and more ways to protest. Everybody should be heard. No matter how bad the situation is protesting peacefully is always the right way to go, violence should not be used to solve the problem.

Norway's Largest Bank Sells Assets In Dakota Access Pipeline Company

To summarize this article it basically explains that the DNB is in favor of the pipeline, and has supported this projected financially

I feel very strongly about this topic because even though I am one person I can still make a difference. You can't change the world unless you change yourself. If you want this world to be a better place then play your part. Everybody should have a opinion, or voice themselves on this issue. We can make America environmentally just by being conscious of the space we share, and others. We need to understand the impact economically the government has on our society, and surroundings.

A Margarita Debayle (To Margarita Debayle)

Margarita, está linda la mar,

y el viento

lleva esencia sutil de azahar;

yo siento

en el alma una alondra cantar;

tu acento.

Margarita, te voy a contar

un cuento.

'Éste era un rey que tenía

un palacio de diamantes,

una tienda hecha del día

y un rebaño de elefantes.

Un quiosco de malaquita,

un gran manto de tisú,

y una gentil princesita, tan bonita,

Margarita, tal bonita como tú.

Una tarde la princesa

vio una estrella aparecer;

la princesa era traviesa

y la quiso ir a coger.

La quería para hacerla

decorar un prendedor,

con un verso y una perla,

una pluma y una flor.

A princesas primorosas

se parecen mucho a ti

cortan lirios, cortan rosas,

cortan astros. Son así.

Pues se fue la niña bella,

bajo el cielo y sobre El mar,

a cortar la blanca estrella

que la hacía suspirar

Y siguió camino arriba,

por la luna y más allá,

mas lo malo es que ella iba

sin permisio del papá.

Cuando estuvo ya de vuelta

de los parques del Señor,

se miraba toda envuelta

en un dulce resplandor.

Y el rey dijo: 'Qué te has hecho?

Te he buscado y no te hallé;

y que tienes en el pecho,

que encendido se te ve?'

La princesa no mentía.

Y asi, dijo la verdad:

'Fui a cortar la estrella mía

a la azul inmensidad'.

Y el rey clama: 'No te he dicho

que el azul no hay que tocar?

Qué locura! Qué capricho!

El Señor se va a enojar'.

Y dice ella: 'No hubo intento;

yo me fui no sé por qué.

Por las olas y en el viento

fui a la estrella y la corté'.

Y el papa dice enojado:

'Un castigo has de tener:

vuelve al cielo, y lo robado

vas ahora a devolver'.

La princesa se entristece

por su dulce flor de luz,

cuando entonces aparece

sonriendo el buen Jesús.

Y asi dice: 'En mis campiñas

esa rosa le ofrecí;

son mis flores de las niñas

que al sonar piensan en mí'.

Viste el rey ropas brillantes,

y luego hace desfilar

cuatrocientos elefantes

a la orilla de la mar.

La princesa está bella,

pues ya tiene el prendedor

en que lucen, con la estrella,

verso, perla, pluma y flor.

Margarita, esta lindá la mar,

y el viento

lleva esencia sutil de azahar:

tu aliento.

My shoe drawing shows space. My drawing shows space because my shoes have a lot of little details. So I have to get every part to fit and be evenly spaced to match my real shoe as best as possible.

Me and John chose a helmet because we both love sports especially football and we thought it would be to light a helmet up. We thought this would be a good idea if the NFL lighted up helmets it would make the jerseys look cooler
