Botany Project Blog post

Posted by Gary Green in Botany · Aziz · y1 on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 12:21 pm

Indigenous plants, Cultures and wisdom can all be conserved by doing the simplest of things. Will it take a bit of work? Yes but we can even do things like writing down traditions and keeping the knowledge circulating by telling others. Encouraging them to participate in botany. Giving them great, natural, and environmentally positive power. Humans can take the essence of plants and place it inside of areas that they will thrive in. If the area does not exist during the time of year then we can create it with our own two hands. A plants anatomy is important but not everything in regards to it’s physiology.  Yes the basic layout of the plant is determined by what it’s made up by but there are many different looking plants that have the same functions or uses. I say we keep the traditions alive and help our world blossom not wilt. All that there is to wonder is; Will you help save our environment?

Society's True Face

Posted by Gary Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 12:07 pm

I’ve created this masterpiece because I feel ad though it has a great meaning to society. It also brings a food for thought type of message .  While working on this project I realized I have achieved my goal in creating a visual representation. For the message that I have been trying to convey to society. When you see a trash can there are multiple things that come to mind. In an artist's perspective it could mean throwing away inner struggles. Or keeping things inside or to talk about that bad things about something or someone. Although that’s not what I have intended for the viewer to think about. Making this 3d sculpture I have achieved my goal in making an actual representation of society. This project has no correlation to my previous work or to any other piece of art that i’ve made. I first made a drawing of what I wanted my 3d sculpture to look like then i made  a rough draft of my work with clay. Then I made a Final draft more improved with more detail and it’s colored. The whole base of making this piece of art was to represent the world I live in. Trash, complete and utter trash. The actual sculpture is empty and has no real trash in it. You can simply imagine the metaphorical cans and wrappers that represent what’s wrong with society. A lot of our society is bad but there is always a little bit of grey in the middle. My grandfather was shot and killed in cold blood and no murderer was found to be given a trial. He received no justice. My art gives people something to think about. Think about themselves, think about the way society is structured, think about their own happiness. Having a certain technique can bring out a different feeling in your art. I added sharp detail and edges to create a deeper feeling for my 3d model. I learned how to make a functional 3d sculpture.

Line Texture and Value

Posted by Gary Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 12:08 pm

I’ve created this piece of art to give people something to think about deeply within their minds. I was hoping to achieve people going beyond what they see inside or outside of the cube. The cube communicates how people are never able to see the same side or all sides. I’m pretty sure i’ve achieved a growth of open mindedness among people.

My current work is deep my last piece of work was also deep. I like to make very innovate drawings with deeper meanings that the surface.I started drawing a cube. Then after I was finished drawing the cube and made sure that my lines were parallel I moved on the adding a shadow to the cube. After I added the shadow effect you see how the cube soon pops out of the paper. Next I used a shading tool and I shaded every part of the paper that wasn’t the shadow part of the cube. Only one side of the cube was shaded. There was no place where I got my information from unless you count my head and I can't source my brain. My work reflects not only on me but on everyone in the world. This is factual because not everyone thinks the same. No one ever has the the same exact thought about something. It’s what makes us unique as individuals. No one ever sees the same side. I’ve experienced being in arguments and some people just don’t see the same side as others. That's what an argument is. Trying to get someone to see the same side you do. Like reading a book but not being on the same page.In my opinion I personally think that my art could make an impact on the world and It would try to get people to be more open minded and work harder to come to the same place. The shadow effect was the most important part to the work because it’s the main thing that makes the cube look 3d. I learned how to add shadows to the right parts of my drawings.

Lone Wolf

Posted by Gary Green in Art 2 · Hertz · b1 on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 12:05 pm

What you see before you is a wolf howling. My drawing was inspired by my love for this animal. Wolves are loyal and strong I highly value those two factors about them. Drawing a wolf was the first thing that came to mind when I found out about this project. It was pretty cool painting my drawing in 24 different colors. On my painting which you won’t find on any other there is a streak of red across my painting. That streak represents the anger and aggression in the wolf.

There is Black painted around the painting to give the wolf a final Shine. So all of the colors are made brighter and there is white left on the inside on the Wolf. Now about the red in the drawing it could be the blood of a person or another animal. Since wolves are natural predators. The blood could have come from a number of things. It makes the painting present a deeper story about the wolf and why it’s howling.

In my painting all of the tint colors lead away from the face of the wolf. All of the regular colors are in the front or closer to the face or on the face of the wolf.

6 Word Memoir

Posted by Gary Green in ART 9 - Hertz - e2 on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:22 am

11 Unrecorded, all not my doing.

When I was younger I didn’t have much control over my anger. Due to that it was really easy to get into a scuffle with me all because I couldn’t control myself if pushed. I had 11 fights in my old school unrecorded, all of them I didn’t start. I’m never the first to throw hands but i’ll hit back when struck. Since I never started the fights the people in my school never put it on my permanent record.

I love fighting and all but I don’t start fights. There were just a lot of immature people who couldn’t keep their hands to themselves. They learned how to eventually. The room I have drew contains a few objects that represent my 6 word memoir. Since I got into a lot of fights I have fighting gear and equipment. Boxing is something that I love and boxing is fighting. There is a punching bag, a speed bag, and boxing gloves. All of those things relate to fighting.

Due to the fact that I didn’t start the 11 fights I can relax. So there's a couch in the room. To cool off after a fight I always drink some water. Like cold water that was the reasoning for the refrigerator.

The Heart N Soul

Posted by Gary Green in ART 9 - Hertz - e2 on Friday, April 29, 2016 at 3:02 pm
What is the meaning of the work you created?
The work that I created is an animal that carries the same traits as me and has a lot of meaning to who I am as a person.

What inspired your work?
I was thinking about who I am internally and me as a person (my personality).

Why did you choose the location you chose?
I chose the Ms. Connaghans room because that’s my advisors room. That room is where i’ll always go back to for my remaining years as a student of SLA. It’s a reminder of home.

How did this project change your perception of Art?
No it does not change my perception of art. If you're not one of those people who draw just to draw everything that comes from your pencil in the hand to paper really means something to the artist.

How did this project change your perception of Art you see as you travel around the city?
Everyone in our grade doing this is making our school look just like our community around us. People's thoughts and feelings are just everywhere.
