Mekhya Johnson prescription drugs

Posted by Mekhya Johnson in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 11:34 pm

When deciding on a topic for this quarter benchmark I picked overdosing on prescription drugs because that's one of the topic I did not talk about before in school. Even though I know a lot of information about the topic. I wanted to use this opportunity to share what I know. What I could do differently is found a better place to record my videos. The site I used before was not supported on this website. Link https://youtu.be/-xjlOX78NhM

PSA: Food Safety

Posted by Haajirah Nur in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 10:36 am

Food safety is a subject that impacts all of us. Recently there have been a number of bacterial outbreaks that have threatened our public health. Factors that play a big part in these outbreaks are lack of prevention control, hand washing, proper sanitation, following rules and regulations provided by FDA and FSMA and regulatory agencies such as the CDC and OSHA enforcing fines on corporations who do not implement food safety that were put in place to protect the public from outbreaks. The way that I contributed to this project is by researching and sharing my opinions and ideas in our PSA. I also conducted the interview. I think what I would have wanted to do differently was spend more time finding more people  to interview for more perspectives on the issue. Food safety issues have recently just been taken more seriously. researched has been stumped due to lack of money from the government to take care of the issue. The FDA has been finding more money to get technology that will benefit out mission on protecting our public health. The most meaningful part of this PSA was learning and getting to share what I learned to help our society come together for a cause that will in some way affect all of us.

Obesity PSA

Posted by Bahiyah Corbin in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 9:03 am

For our PSA , we did the topic of obesity. We chose to do obesity because a lot of us suffer from being overweight and this could easily lead to obesity. A lot of us could be on the verge of being overweight and you won’t even know because we are not properly educated. Our PSA was informative because we let everyone know the dangers of obesity and how it could affect you. We also looked at the dangers of how obesity could affect you and how to combat these dangers. We focused on the main points of how it’s important to stay healthy

Obesity PSA

In this project we chose to do a PSA about obesity. We chose obesity because this is a problem that affects adults and children all over America and is one of the most unspoken subjects in real world issues. We decided to put focus on this by explaining the harms that would come your way and how to combat these issues with solutions and organizations that could help you with these problems . We made this video informative by including a health expert who educated us on what you could do to avoid/prevent obesity. Our health expert is apart of the SLA community , so I think it also spreads awareness that if you need information , we have an expert in the building everyday. So there is no excuse as to why you can’t get help.

HIV/Aids

Posted by Mikeala Commander in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 3:49 am

In our video, we decided to make a public health announcement regarding HIV/Aids. My group and I chose this topic because it is an issue that has always been happening, and is very prevalent in our generation. People definitely tend to ignore HIV/Aids, as if it is not a big deal, and it in fact is very important. In order to stay involved with my group, I researched on the topic, and also involved myself in the interview. I think my group did well covering the topic, ensuring that all the bases were covered. We tried our best to make the video to be as informative and helpful as possible, while also teaching our classmates about HIV/Aids.

HIV AIDS

Posted by Anisa Johnson in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2:36 am

Public health is a topic that is talked about often. Public health to me addresses all of the diseases that affect us as a society. The government needs to realize that we can address public health by making health insurance either less costly or free. This is something only our political leaders can make fit in the budget. If healthcare was free there would be more people reaching out and being more interested in their health. A lot of people who these public diseases affect are those who avoid the doctor's office because they don't have any insurance and can't afford a visit. There are groups studying these diseases daily to see what can happen for these things to stop. Many doctors have to study the things we study in anatomy in order to see what is happening and in what part of the body things are happening in.

HIV and AIDS

Posted by Karrine Tucker in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Monday, April 15, 2019 at 2:18 am

Our video is comprised of an interview from our school nurse in regards to HIV/AIDS along with the research that was done in learning about HIV, who it affects and treatment for it. I chose this topic because I do not think it gets enough attention, especially by young people. I found it especially important to learn not only about what HIV is but how to protect ourselves from it as we go into college. I contribtued to different parts of this project but, I was essential in making sure that my group stayed on task, and worked to complete the many checkpoints on time. I think did well on working hard to make sure checkpoints were done good and on time. I could have done better with my time management. The most meaningful part of creating this PSA was being able to connect and share with the youth about HIV. https://youtu.be/Gjz6AQcW-iI

Strokes, they can kill you. - A SLA@Beeber PSA

Posted by Jada Reynolds in Biology of the Human Body · Aziz · C on Sunday, April 14, 2019 at 11:59 pm

As you can tell from the title, my group and I did our PSA on strokes and heart disease. I wanted to work with this because heart disease is a larger spectrum for me to learn about one or more specific things. We decided to focus more on strokes. I think I did a good portion of the project. Tyheim did the most considering he got the interview and he edited most of the video by himself. I think something we could’ve done differently was getting more information to back up some of our claims, but we’re well past that now. The most meaningful part of the PSA was the informative portion with our interviewee Andrew Couchara.

Factors that affect public health can be overall lifestyle choices such as what foods you eat, how often you eat those foods, exercise, and genetics. Rich people tend to have better healthcare because they can afford it. They also tend to need it less because they can afford healthier foods, they have more time to exercise, and they probably live in cleaner environments where the lead isn’t as potent, and the air is less polluted.

Teen Pregnancy PSA

Our video discusses the demographics of teen pregnancy and how society as well as politics has an influence over these numbers. We focused on the lack of preventative care surrounding young teen women and a way to better provide support and care to teen girls and teen moms to prevent more pregnancy. I contributed to the project by doing my fair share of research and editing the video. The most meaningful part of this PSA was getting to see how far we have come as a country in helping to push against teen pregnancy but we still have a ways to go.
