Max Brown's Capstone

Posted by Max Brown in Capstone on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 7:36 am
Abstract:
Since this year is the last year of high school and attending the Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, I wanted my capstone to be something that would be more reflective of how my time here has changed me and how recent events in the world have influenced me to become who I am today. With that goal in mind, I decided to write poetry because it’s not something that I had done very seriously or outside of class before and because it would truly allow me to express how I feel and how I’ve changed over the past three years. So over the course of this school year, I wrote several poems, some in my Creative Writing and Philosophy classes, and some outside of school and compiled nine of them onto a website that I made that is titled ‘The Divide.’ As a result of completing this capstone, I feel like I’ve learned to become a person who is better at reflecting and understanding the consequences of my actions and why I feel the way I do at certain times. Furthermore, I think that I’ve become better at expressing myself, if I was a sophomore and I had the option to release the poems so that the rest of the school could see them, I would be extremely hesitant to do so, but now I’ve grown more comfortable with the idea of people seeing how I really feel. High school is a transformative time for many including myself and I hope that those who read my poems can both enjoy them, and understand me better as a person.

My website can be viewed at this link.

Minecraft World

Posted by Max Brown in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - C1 on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 9:03 am
At first for my Quarter 4 project I decided to recreate Arkham Asylum in Minecraft with Caleb and Jordan, but then we decided to make a castle and it's village instead. During the project I learned how to install Linux and Minecraft onto my chromebook. The hardest part about completing this project was trying to complete the project on one computer and just installing Linux and Minecraft. The most fun and exciting part was planning out the castle and it's village and then building it. If I were to do this project again, I would probably build more in the castle and in the village, maybe I would add more watchtowers and some farmland.

Copy of La Poesia y Mi Reflexión_Proyecto - Google Docs-1
For this project we had to pick a poet and one of their poems then describe the poet's life and what the poem meant and after that we had to create our own poem using the themes of the poet's poem. I picked Pablo Neruda and his poem "A Dog has Died", I then wrote a poem using the themes of death and companionship.

Max's Project

For my Quarter 3 project I chose to learn how to photoshop images, I used to pixlr to create a hybrid of two animals: a giraffe and a guinea pig. While working on the project I learned how to use multiple tools within pixlr such as the magic wand. The challenges I ran into were learning how to edit pictures and actually editing the picture. Other challenges I faced were the background because it made combining two images very challenging. I am most proud of how seamless the transition of giraffe to guinea pig is. I don't think I would do anything differently besides choosing different animals and doing more of it in school and not at school.

Quarter 2 Project Statement

Posted by Max Brown in TECH (INTRO TO DESIGN MULTIMEDIA) - Hertz - C1 on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 7:50 am
The purpose behind my project was to create a simple game using simple coding. While doing this project I hoped to learn how to create a game for the computer and to learn a beginner level of coding. I learned both of those things during the time that I worked on the project for Quarter 2. I think that the project was very successful because it showed my advancements in coding during my short time at this school
